CAPRICORN & HANDS

No matter what your astrology says about you, flat square palms, short stiff fingers, square fingertips, developed first knots, and a combo of loop and arch finger prints embodies Capricorn. A Capricorn sun, moon, rising sign, planets, houses, or aspects will enhance pragmatism and other Capricornian traits. Firm hand consistency, coarse skin ridges, and self-assured handshakes embody practicality, responsibility, and reliability. When the middle finger crooks toward the ring finger, discipline, seriousness, and responsibility rule the person.

Middle fingers with dominant first and middle phalanges make Capricorn more practical and pragmatic than his cardinal brothers and sisters, AriesLibra, and Cancer. He’s more motivated and aggressive than his fixed cousin Taurus and a better manager than his mutable cousin Virgo. Every thought and action must be rooted in rational reason and clear purpose. Capricorn leaders and successful managers embrace responsibility with commitment and perseverance, carrying out the most mundane of tasks while maintaining a long-range vision of their goals. Structured, focused, disciplined, and dependable, Saturn expects you to be on time and do as you say. He has little patience for excuses. As a natural skeptic, he doesn’t trust slick and flashy types. A workaholic, he doesn’t question coming early or staying late to finish a task. He patiently awaits the right conditions, cultivates right relationships, and plans right timing before taking action.

Our middle fingers should always be longest. Short middle fingers represent a life out of balance. Lack of structure, discipline, and focus is a formula for failure. The qualities of the middle finger reveal how serious and reliable we are and how we deal with our frustrations, obstructions, obligations, shame, and guilt.

Saturn is well organized, efficient, patient, dependable, and faithful. Obsessive order, minute methodology, persistent punctuality, and unrelenting perfectionism are embodied in stiff knotty joints, crooked middle fingers, long middle phalanges, square fingertips, and short broad nails. Self-critical types must learn to “lighten up and smell the roses”. Traditional music and dry humor soothes the saturnine soul. Saturn has a cynical or sarcastic sense of humor peppered with a pessimism that can sometimes be offensive and defensive at the same time. The funniest comedians often hide their pain behind humor. Practical, prudent, and persistent, Saturn becomes frustrated when his strategies don’t go according to plan. Rigid ideologies and an overdeveloped sense of obligation and responsibility makes Saturn feel depression, guilt, and shame. While they pride themselves on their ingenuity, it’s ironic they rarely stray from traditional and conventional careers.

Dominant middle-finger types tend to be tall and slender in appearance. Dark hair, large bones, stern features, and bland complexions are common. Saturn needs solitary time including family, friends, and partners. Saturn’s physical sense is smell. Pure types love string instruments and classical music tinged with sadness.

Abraham Lincoln was saturnine. Daniel Day-Lewis (Taurus with strong Saturn) masterfully played Abraham Lincoln. Clint Eastwood is a Gemini with strong Saturn. Elvis Presley, a Capricorn, was King of Rock ‘n Roll. Tiger Woods was Prince of Golf. Muhammad Ali was King of Boxing. David Bowie was a musical master. Paul Cezanne and Henri Matisse fathered Post-Impressionism. Albert Schweitzer‘s ‘reverence for life’ was his gift to humanity. Louis Pasteur pasteurized.

“If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Capricorn (1/15/1929) with Capricorn hands. King was martyred for his fervent beliefs. As a Baptist Minister and Social Rights Activist, Dr. King was destined to lead the black civil rights movement in the United States from the mid 1950’s until his brutal assassination in Aries (4/4/1968). Dr. King’s mission was the pursuit of truth, peace, justice, and equality for all. His dream became his legacy as well as a legal holiday.

Saturn rules physical structure. Capricorn weaknesses include skin, teeth, knees, and ligaments. Maladies like rheumatism, hardening of the arteries, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and deafness in the left ear are Saturnine. Middle fingers that lean towards ring fingers symbolize perfectionism and a strong need for personal space. I’ll bet that Donald Rumsfeld is frequently cranky, irritable, and annoyed. Just look at his left middle finger and face. Saturn thrives in conservative types. Most scientists, researchers, mathematicians, technical specialists, and businessmen are saturnine. Writers, craftsmen, therapists, night watchmen, undertakers, morticians, and derelicts frequently have dominant middle fingers.

On Christmas, humanity celebrates Jesus Christ, Jewish guru, and not for profit prophet. God spoke through Jesus, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Jesus would have reformed religion had he stuck around. Who needs dogmas, doctrines, codes, rules, and regulations when you’ve got spirituality? Loving unconditionally and without expectation can have a dire outcome. Jesus was crucified for loving too much!

Mel Gibson (Capricorn) embraced his dark side when he created ‘The Passion of the Christ’. Jesus’s spirit writhes in heaven as Mel irreverently punishes and blames the Jews for torturing Jesus to death. You can see all of Jesus’s suffering and none of his revelations and victories in Mel’s 30 million dollar abomination.

Perhaps Mel can capitalize on Dr. King’s final moments and create another sequel called LETHAL WEAPON 666 ~ even more reasons to feel and spread hate, shame, guilt, fear, and terror. Mel should stick to acting. He’d make a great used Hummer salesman, specializing in ‘already been road-warriored’ models like worn jeans or distressed furniture.

Scrooge is our darkest, greediest, and stingiest side. Relationships are important only as they relate to profit. Master criminals are ruled by Saturn. They have no need for cleverness like Gemini, spontaneity like Aries, or grandiosity like Sagittarians. They strategize, wait, and act when the timing is right.

Ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future haunt Capricorn Bernard Ebbers, former CEO of WorldCom. Ebbers made telecommunications competitive. He achieved his goal of power and wealth, but compromised his ethical principles in favor of profit. Preaching one thing and practicing another has a gloomy prognosis that can end one in the slammer. Evangelical Christians had better get real soon or risk extinction with Saturn and Pluto still conjunct in Capricorn!

Janet is a Capricorn. Her crooked middle fingers along with head and life lines that separate on her dominant hand at their beginnings embody a freedom loving, independent, perfectionist with a highly developed sense of responsibility, guilt, and obligation. Too many “should’s’ and ‘supposed to’s” get in the way of that adventure Janet craves.

“Do the work or suffer the consequences”. “ Father Time” is about quality, not quantity. The lone hermit is not lonely. Saturn is present where discipline, focus, and structure are required. Saturn can be prosperous, happy, wise, and compassionate. He can also become easily frustrated, compulsively controlling, greedy, and self-destructive. Transforming lead into gold is a metaphor for transforming Saturn into the Sun.

CAPRICORN & PSYCHE

Outer planets catalyze massive transformations in both personal and collective psyches as they change signs. The human race is recklessly racing toward an endless cycle of bad shit happening on this darkest day of 2019 ~ Winter Solstice. Saturn and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn solemnly reveal our faulty foundations, shaky structures, and horrible habits. It’s time to balance our personal and collective head and heart. Every thought, choice, and action has consequences. We need to let go of fear and hate and begin loving and nurturing ourselves, each other, and our Mother Earth.

While Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transited Capricorn in the 20th Century, outdated paradigms of political institutions and social structures began to shift. Uranus in Capricorn revolutionized politics and business from 1989 to 1996. The Iron Curtain and Berlin Wall were ripped down. Germany was reunited on October 3, 1990. The sociopolitical demarcation between East and West vanished. In 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated into fifteen republics. The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibited discriminating against the disabled. Why do we continue down the path of regression, repression, poisonous philosophies, false patriotism, social discrimination, and fabricated fears?

NASA’s Voyager space probe recorded Uranus orbiting the outer limits of our solar system. Nelson Mandela was released after 27 years behind bars. He galvanized the Anti-Apartheid movement across the globe. Jean Bertrand Aristide, radical priest, was Haiti’s first freely elected president. Ten months later, the military seized control of his government. After USA Asylum, Aristide returned to office (1994), along with 20,000 American troops. Operation Desert Storm liberated Kuwait from Iraqi invaders. Bosnia declared independence from Yugoslavia ~ resulting in a religious civil war that pitted Serbs and Croats against Muslims. Genocide in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Somalia supported and promoted hatred across the globe. Why do we waste valuable time and resources on useless programs in outer space when we could spend them wisely in the here and now?

Johnny Carson retired after 30 years (Saturn return) of the TONITE Show. Representatives from over 100 countries met in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to try to figure out how to save the earth. Common sense is no longer good sense.

Expect the Unexpected. The USA and UN brokered a prickly cease-fire to end ethnic cleansing. PLO leader Yassar Arafat shook hands with Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin to try to end hatred. The Irish Republican Army agreed to lay down its arms for a role in Northern Ireland’s political future. Smoking was banned in New York City restaurants. More women began smoking cigars. The Brady Bill for gun control was signed into law thirteen years after Brady was shot and paralyzed. Why are so many semi-automatic weapons being sold to psychotic people who use them for mass shootings in schools, religious sites, and shopping malls? Why do we continue to choose leaders who ignore humanitarian and environmental values and worship greed? Why are we abandoning our good health and the good health of our planet?

Neptune began transiting Capricorn in 1984. Lines between chemical industries and moral responsibilities dissolved. A gas leak from a Union Carbide plant in India killed over 3,000 people. British scientists pinpointed a hole in the earth’s ozone layer. In 1987, after seeing the hand writing on the wall, fifty-three nations signed a treaty pledging to reduce the number of CFCs in our atmosphere.

The most serious nuclear accident in history occurred at Chernobyl, killing thirty-one people instantly. 40,000 were later diagnosed with Cancer from too much exposure to Radiation. Chernobyl will be eternally toxic! The Exxon Valdez shipwreck was the worst oil spill in history, contaminating hundreds of miles of Alaska shoreline and killing many thousands of innocent creatures. Why choose fossil fuels and environmental pollution over clean energy and sustainability?

In 1994, Monsanto, creator of Agent Orange, PCBs, DDTs, and Dioxins, launched “Round-up Ready” GMO soybeans, approved by the FDA. “Frankenfood” was born. Environmental activists fought while FDA folly was parodied on late night TV. Mad Cow disease appeared in the UK in 1996. The slim line between science fiction and reality was crossed when the first sheep was cloned in Scotland in 1997. The FDA approved a drug called AZT, designed to treat AIDS. El Nino was blamed for bizarre weather conditions in 1997 and 1998. Why use ‘Roundup’, when we know it’s carcinogenic? Why deny climate change?

Neptune transformed illusions of fatherhood. Me too pussy grabber Bill Cosby was the most popular father in 1984. As Saturn transited Scorpio, Bill wasn’t practicing what he was preaching. He had little awareness of how his karma would reward him for his actions when Saturn returned to Scorpio in 2014. Racial bigots Archie Bunker and Homer Simpson became wildly popular. ‘Married with Children’ warped visions of fatherhood. Disney produced a powerful father and son story, ‘The Lion King’. Murphy Brown revealed her Animus to the Collective Psyche’s repressed and vulnerable Anima. She encouraged other females not to give away their power. Why elect and appoint rapists and pussy grabbers to leadership roles in public office? Are there enough of us who are willing to do whatever it takes to create a healthier and happier world.

Ivan Boesky preached virtuosity and honesty and practiced insider trading. Frenzied mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers began in 1980, destabilizing financial institutions. General Electric purchased media giants NBC and RCA. Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) collapsed. Regulators from 69 countries seized assets and charged officers who hid substantial losses from investors. Congress closed the House of Representatives Bank in the wake of scandal. Why give billionaires our hard earned $?

Neptune dissolved political and financial structures. Mikhail Gorbachev reformed controls to keep the Soviet Union together. Growing concerns over growing federal deficit catalyzed the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act. Congress failed to control its spending and rather than assume the massive mandatory cuts specified, it was scrapped in 1990. Reagan deficits soared to two trillion dollars (2X 1981). Black Monday crashed with unexpected steep dropping stock prices. Texaco filed the largest bankruptcy in history. As national deficits grow greater, our middle class grows poorer, and have-nots more desperate than ever!

History repeats itself. Pluto corrupts. The top 1/10th of 1% is above the law and beyond scrutiny. The 99% are well aware of the greed and selfishness of the 1%. Deceptive business practices, dark conspiracies, devious plans, and greedy capitalists darkly manifest through Pluto. Partisan politics, greed, hypocrisy, and selfishness ‘can be’ transformed to healthy values, ethical morality, and transcendent spirituality. “The All is in All & All is in The All” Hermes

Nostradamus predicted that time of Pluto in Capricorn would destabilize major financial structures and burst bubbles created by an illusion of social security. How does reform work in broken social systems? A Congress and Senate is fed by lies and greed! What happens when the Federal Reserve Bank (Capricorn) destabilizes? How should we prepare for fluctuating interest rates and inflation?

We must reuse, recycle, and recreate our infrastructure, find revolutionary ways to manage energy, and nourish our environment. Fossil fuels must be purposed for sustainable products and not be squandered. Recycling and reuse must be implemented on a massive scale to be practical and cost effective.

The Declaration of Independence was signed July 4 1776. Many astrologers dispute whether Gemini or Sagittarius is rising. Regardless, the USA Sun, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury are in Cancer. As Pluto opposes Cancer, Plutocrats will attempt to control everyone. We’ll be challenged for economic power and lose our status as a world leader. Like smug short-sighted little children, we take what’s most valuable for granted and then must lose it to learn to value it. Just wait until Cyber-terrorism reaches into our computers, cell phones, and other available electronic devices to influence more than our elections. Humanity’s list of needs is endless and eternal. We must learn to build bridges, healthy highways, and accessibility for all, not walls.

NYC’s charter was signed on January 1 1898 at 12:01 am. AS Pluto transited NYC’s Sun in Capricorn in 2013, chaos was catalyzed in physical and financial infrastructures, public transportation, and political corruption. World challenges included hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, droughts, wildfires, and other unnatural anomalies due to human environmental abuse. Capricorn rises in the USSR constitution, which promises political and economic upheaval. In the final analysis, Pluto teaches us where responsibility begins and accountability ends. The bottom line does not justify the means.

“EXPELIOSIS”

Donaldemort and his Dementors are gluttonous grifters who have abolished science, ignored morality, and abused spirituality in the name of religion. They squander our natural resources and destroy our environment as they pollute our respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems, abuse our bodies, poison our minds, and rape our spirits. We permit them to deny responsibility for their behaviors and actions and they suffer no serious societal consequences. Humanity must replace hate, fear, and terror with loving leadership, helpful attitudes, and nourishing actions.

CAPRICORN & HANDS

In palmistry, no matter what your astrology says, flat square palms, short stiff fingers, square fingertips, and a combo of loop and arch finger prints is Capricorn. A Capricorn sun, moon, rising sign, planets, houses, or aspects makes you more pragmatic. Firm hands, pale tough skin, and self-assured handshakes embody practicality, responsibility, and reliability. When the middle finger leans or crooks toward the ring finger, seriousness, structure, and responsibility rule the person.

CAPRICORN & PSYCHE

The full moon in Cancer arrives with this year’s winter solstice. As humanity races recklessly toward bad shit happening, Saturn solemnly reveals our faulty foundations, unstable structures, and horrible habits. The time has come to balance our personal and collective heads and hearts. Every thought, choice, and action has consequences. It’s time to let go of fear and begin loving and nourishing each other and our planet.

Outer planets symbolize massive transformations in both personal and collective psyches as they change signs. While Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transited Capricorn in the 20th Century, outdated paradigms and patterns of political institutions and social structures were shifted. Uranus in Capricorn revolutionized politics and business from 1989 to 1996. The Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall were ripped down. Germany was reunited on October 3, 1990. The political demarcation between East and West vanished. In 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated into fifteen republics. The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibited discriminating against the disabled. Why have we regressed to Nationalism, Fear, and discrimination? Do we really need to build another wall that we’ll eventually tear down between the US and Mexico?

NASA successfully observed and recorded Uranus orbiting the outer limits of our solar system, thanks to our Voyager space probe. Nelson Mandela was released after 27 years behind bars and successfully galvanized Anti-Apartheid across the globe. Jean Bertrand Aristide, radical priest, became Haiti’s first freely elected president. Ten months after his election, the military seized control of government. After his USA asylum, Aristide returned to office in 1994, accompanied by 20,000 American troops. Operation Desert Storm liberated Kuwait from Iraqi invaders. Racial bigots Archie Bunker and Homer Simpson were wildly popular fathers. ‘Married with Children’ warped our visions of fatherhood. Disney produced a powerful father and son story, ‘The Lion King’. No matter what, the USA Sun, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury are still in Cancer. As Pluto opposes those archetypes, we’ll try harder to control everyone and everything and be challenged for economic power and status as world leader. We’re smart-assed short-sighted little children who take what’s most valuable for granted.

NYC’s charter was signed January 1 1898 at 12:01 am. Pluto reached the degree of NYC’s Sun in Capricorn in 2013 and catalyzed chaos around physical and financial infrastructures, public transportation, and political corruption. How can we allow them to deny responsibility and not expect serious karmic consequences? Why can’t we see the handwriting on our walls? We must wean ourselves from hate, fear, and terror, and choose loving leaders.

LIBRA & PSYCHE

Autumn Equinox 2018

Outer planets powerfully influence our collective psyche as they change sign. They also catalyze massive transformations in our personal psyches. We can observe our inner and outer worlds transform in cardinal, fixed, and mutable modalities. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transited Libra in the 20th Century. Forces of good and evil clashed as we tried to find a balance between optimism and pessimism, tolerance and intolerance, justice and prejudice, and progress and regress with little social or political stability.

Uranus transited Aries (opposite Libra), arriving in Taurus May 2018 and transiting into Gemini in April 2026. Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn are impelling poisonous  politics by deceiving  voters and conning partisan politicians with empty promises fueled by the hubris, hatred, greed, and gluttony of a philosophically and spiritually bankrupt Emperor.

Our future is at risk. While Neptune (Pisces) transited Libra from 1942 to 1957, Nuclear weapons proliferated. The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. President Truman ordered the Atomic Energy Commission to produce a much bigger `Hydrogen Bomb’. Now, Neptune in Pisces has provided us with a deluded Emperor with his finger on the button.

Why won’t the United States see that we’re all in this together? Our obligation is to ourselves and each other. We have a responsibility to nourish future generations. We need to cultivate healthy behaviors, values, thinking, feelings, will power, physical habits, relationships, creativity, philosophies, purpose, dreams, and spirituality.

When will fear stop, accountability start, decision begin, and taking charge take place? Is it possible to prevent ‘bad shit from happening’ instead of always racing towards it?

The United Nations was born on October 24 1945. Their Charter was ratified by China, France, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, and the United States. International cartels firmly established themselves. A European Common Market was recognized. Civil Rights Movements flourished. Group Psychology became popular.  A World Council of Churches was established. Mother Francis Xavier Cabrini, founder of Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, became the first American Citizen to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church.

The Devil is hard at work in the church. He confuses and tempts priests with tainted money and evil fantasies while giving them the permission and power to physically and spiritually abuse and corrupt sacred souls they were entrusted to protect. No matter our religion, we’re one big dysfunctional family. Each of us has a unique story.

‘As Above, So Below’

“THE ALL is in ALL, while ALL is in THE ALL”

“The Lips of Wisdom are closed, except to the Ears of Understanding”  Hermes

When Neptune left Libra in 1957, the bestselling novel was Peyton Place, focusing on sexual intrigue in a small town. Allen Ginsberg was a popular poet writing, “I have seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness”. People born between 1942 and 1957 tend to be overly idealistic about relationships. ‘Haves’ must learn what the ‘Have Nots’ have… to strive, accept, compromise, sacrifice, and let go.

Uranus (Aquarius) transited Libra from 1968 to 1975. The spirit of nationalism shifted from optimism to pessimism. Faith in progress turned into disillusionment in national institutions and world progress. The period was marked by useless popular inventions like a pet rock, giant platform shoes, and shag haircuts. Punk Rock, Primal Therapy, and Streaking became popular. The Supreme Court Legalized Abortions in the first trimester of pregnancy (Roe vs. Wade). Is it time for some Matriarchy for a change?

Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn have enabled ultra-conservative forces to conspire to bias a Supreme Court that will curtail Women’s Reproductive Rights. Bumbling Bureaucrats choose Money over Values, promote Religion over Spirituality, embrace Greed over the Good Health of our Planet, and offer generous helpings of Fear, Confusion, and Delusion as alternative facts instead of Honesty, Integrity, Dignity, Courage, Strength, Grace, Virtue, and Wisdom. Our health and our Planet’s health are controlled by too many pussy grabbers, fearful haters, and greedy gluttonous shitholes. We must be in charge of our own well-being.

In 1968, Governor George Wallace, a racial bigot from Alabama, announced he’d be running for President on a newly formed American Independent Party ticket. He threatened to repeal the “so called civil rights laws”. In 1971, an assassination attempt left candidate Wallace paralyzed from the waist down. Diplomat Henry Kissinger approved the financing of clandestine CIA activities in Chile aimed at successfully preventing the election and inauguration of Salvador Allende as Marxist President.

Patty Hearst shed new light on ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ after she was kidnapped and brain-washed by the Symbionese Liberation Army. A military junta deposed Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie. The most popular show on TV was a comic satire about a racist named Archie Bunker. Racism is not so funny these days.

In Taurus, Uranus has brought us an empty and valueless Emperor who has chosen to build physical walls between us and our closest neighbors while building ideological, philosophical, and spiritual walls among and between us and the rest of our world.

Pluto (Scorpio) transited Libra from 1971 to 1983. It was the official launch of the environmental movement ~ Reuse, Recycle, and Recreate. Growers and pickers reached a settlement that ended a nearly ten year grape boycott (led by Cesar Chavez). Farm workers finally had bargaining power. In 1954, Neptune was in Libra and Pluto was in Leo. In the case of Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation of schools was unconstitutional. On April 20, 1971, the United States Supreme Court upheld the use of busing to achieve racial desegregation in schools. Unfortunately, making something law, doesn’t erase hatred.

An arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization terrorized the 1972 summer Olympics in Munich. Prime Minister Idi Amin slaughtered over 300,000 Ugandans and alienated his country from the rest of the world. Violence in Ireland forced Britain to seize control of Northern Ireland and suspend the Protestant controlled parliament. In 1975 South Vietnam crumbled, bringing an end to the Vietnam War. Because of the Karen Ann Quinlan case, `right to die’ rulings were enacted all across the USA. The serial killer “Son of Sam” was put away after terrorizing both males and females in NYC. Religious extremist Jim Jones’s followers drank the cool aid and died.

John Lennon was murdered.

“Imagine there’s no country,

It isn’t hard to do.

Nothing to kill or die for,

And no religion, too.

Imagine all the people.

Living life in peace”

MY CANCER BEST FRIEND

LLOYD WILSON

Cancer is a feeling type… instinctual, empathic, emotionally complex, and hard to comprehend. Pry into their private lives and watch them retreat into their shells. Cancers hide their most vulnerable selves beneath a facade of nurturing actions. Cautious and vulnerable, Cancers avoid emotional confrontation wherever and whenever possible, although, they prefer being frank and direct over tactful and diplomatic. Their feelings can swing from loving, devoted, and nurturing, to secretive, obsessive, and fearful of the future. Their smartest option is always choosing satisfying over safe. Cancers can become dark and moody when they feel controlled or confined. They must feel protected and secure before they can fully trust. Once trust is earned, loyalties run deep. Cancer needs to cultivate intimacy wherever and whenever they can. Healthy families, close friendships, and satisfying work nourish and support them. Creating structure, organization, and detail also helps them feel stable and secure.

Healthy Cancers are loving, compassionate, and devoted. They’re compatible with other feeling types (Scorpio & Pisces). They feel safe with practical types (Taurus ~ Virgo ~ Capricorn) who are reliable, responsible, and dependable. They’re challenged by thinking types (Gemini ~ Libra ~ Aquarius) who compartmentalize, rationalize, and analyze their feelings. They’re cautious around intuitive types (Aries ~ Leo ~ Sagittarius) who are passionate, spontaneous, and impatient, and afraid they’ll be left holding the psychic garbage bag (they are) and scared of dealing with the collateral damage when idealism, optimism, enthusiasm, and logic wane (and they do). Cancers are acutely consciousness of everyone else’s emotional needs. When they feel insecure, they can become internally secretive and externally aggressive at the same time. Cancer works hardest when income matches output. Motivated by good food, emotional security, and cozy surroundings, their mission is to nurture family, home, and creative imagination.

The impudent young guy on the left in this picture is me, captured forty-four years ago in a photo booth at Kennywood Amusement Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lloyd and I met while working part time at a model making shop where we fabricated preschool children’s learning devices for the University of Pittsburgh’s Learning, Research, and Development Center. We made toys for ourselves and our loved ones on our own time. About to graduate from different colleges, I was to become an industrial designer. Lloyd would continue being an artist. We were a couple of Peter Pans on our way to Neverland.

Lloyd didn’t get much nurturing as a child. He developed his quick wit and sense of humor while trying to avoid extreme physical abuse. When his mother was happy, Lloyd was safe. When she was unhappy, she’d incite Lloyd’s rage filled father to beat him up. Lloyd tried hard to fix his broken parents, but they were too sick to support his efforts. Instead, they judged, criticized, and abused him. Lloyd’s mother finally abandoned him by killing herself; his father was committed to a mental institution, and years later, his lovely sister who I had met in Florida (two beautiful children, great husband, and an apparently idyllic life), suddenly and unexpectedly blew her head off with a shotgun.

Lloyd’s slender rectangular palms and long fingers embody his Cancer sun, which is conjunct my Mercury. His Gemini ascendant and my Gemini sun harmonize with one another. Lloyd’s head and life lines tightly intertwine at their beginnings. That reveals his need to feel appreciated and his tendency to take things too personally, even when they aren’t. A sensitive child, Lloyd desperately craved love and support, but didn’t get any.

Lloyd survived childhood without much approval. Meanwhile, he thrives on love and appreciation. Lloyd will give you the shirt off his back if you need it, but you had better never take him for granted. I know because Lloyd has literally given me the shirt off his back in my moment of need. I was on my way to an important meeting and got a nasty stain on the front of my shirt. Before I could blink, Lloyd took off his shirt and traded with me. What I love about him is that it never occurred to him not to do that.

Cancers are collectors. Some stockpile food in case of shortage or emergency. Lloyd collects art books, literature (most well-read person I know), religious art, art supplies, tools, raw materials, and clothing. When wealthy people die, their families donate their wardrobe to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Lloyd has a keen eye for the finest designer clothing. He skillfully sorts through the merchandise for great finds. I call him my personal dresser. We wear the same sizes. Lloyd chooses suits, coats, and jackets with me in mind and has gifted me with outfits worth thousands of dollars that he paid ten or fifteen dollars for. Many had never been worn. He’s a master bargain hunter.

Lloyd’s very flexible thumbs symbolize his ability to adapt to the most horrible of circumstances. They also embody his frequent generosity of heart and spirit. It’s very hard for Lloyd to say “NO”. The gold ring on the bottom phalange of his middle (Saturn) finger on his unconscious hand symbolizes his need to have clear boundaries, be frugal, and learn how to be less available so that he won’t be taken for granted. Of course, Lloyd knows that, but it’s still fun to see his character, motivations, and challenges embodied in the morphology and topography of his hands.

Lloyd would say to me, “People who tell the truth don’t need to have good memories”. I’d reply, “We may be bastards, but at least we’re honest”. Over fifty years of friendship have witnessed many challenging lessons in humility for us. We delayed finding balance between our outer and inner worlds by always choosing to learn the hard way. We had to let go of our need to be more than we were. We learned there are no shortcuts.

Lloyd Wilson is Pittsburgh’s best kept secret because he loves his anonymity. His artwork reveals a magical spirit, but few will truly get to know it. Lloyd personifies Cancer’s best qualities. He’s supportive, sympathetic, receptive, reflective, intuitive, imaginative, extremely devoted to friends and family, and my best friend (male).

Aquarius and the 20th Century Psyche

Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transform both personal and collective psyches when they change signs. Uranus takes roughly seven years to transit a sign and eighty-four years to orbit our sun through twelve signs. Uranus came home to Aquarius twice during the 20th Century. From 1912 to 1919, sudden and unexpected political and social upheaval challenged our spiritual ideologies, faith in humanity, and trust in ourselves.

1912 ~ The “Unsinkable” Titanic sunk on its maiden voyage, a potent lesson in hubris.

1913 ~ A series of tornadoes and floods devastated Middle America, killing 3,000 people, and costing over $100,000,000. We learned preparedness the hard way.

1914 ~ World War I began.  Hate took a heavy toll on humanity. Love defeated hate. 1915 ~ A German submarine torpedoed the Lusitania. Expect the Unexpected

The first transcontinental phone call was made by Alexander Graham Bell. Everyone communicates. A powerful idea’s time had arrived.

1916 ~ Pancho Villa, Mexican revolutionary, invaded the USA. President Woodrow Wilson retaliated by sending 6,000 troops into Mexico. If only he’d built a wall.

Official Gazette of London published names of 80 United States firms suspected of trading with Germany. The moral of the story is haves don’t give a shit about have nots.

1917 ~ The USA declared war on Germany. Hitler’s enemies became our allies.

The worst race riot in American history happened in Illinois. Bigotry was huge.

Congress amended laws to prohibit alcohol to make beer, wine, and liquor profitable.

1918 ~ The Spanish Flu was the worst pandemic since the bubonic plague that wiped out one quarter of Europe’s population in the 14th century. Bad Shit Happens.

Daylight Savings Time began. Don’t ever take time for granted

1919 ~ Prohibition is ratified as the 18th amendment to the constitution. Congress failed to ratify the Treaty of Versailles. President Wilson opposed and unsuccessfully took his disagreement to the American people. He died on tour after having a massive stroke. Winners sometimes lose.

Uranus re-entered Aquarius in 1996. It could have catalyzed an Age of Aquarius if humanity had chosen brotherhood over fashion, convenience, and selfishness. Instead, we bombed Iraq in 1998. Male vanity and virility was popularized after Pfizer introduced Viagra. The stock market created a new form of gambling dubbed “internet day trading”. DVDs became the fastest growing consumer electronics product in history. Bribes and drugs tarnished the Olympics. We lost our innocence, civil liberties, and the illusion of private and social security and stability.

Uranus transited Aquarius in 1996. People became even more demoralized, deceived, and divided by the powers that be. President Bill Clinton’s first political act of 1996 was to sign a welfare reform bill that made life harder for poor people. Body piercing and tattoos became more popular.

There were four major plane crashes.

Madeline Albright became the first female Secretary of State.

Ellen DeGeneres became the first outwardly gay star of an ABC sitcom.

Taiwan had its first democratic election.

Neptune rules illusion, delusion, and confusion. Neptune entered Aquarius in 1998. The House of Representatives impeached President Clinton who gave “perjuriously false and misleading” testimony in front of a grand jury. Bill is a Leo with Leo hands.

Catholics and Protestants voted for peace in Ireland. Peace Won.

Our government and twenty state attorney generals charged Microsoft with anti-trust practices for dominating the Internet access market.

Bill Gates is a Scorpio with intuitive hands.

Neptune left Aquarius for Pisces in 2012. Our delusions and deceptions affected old, poor, sick, or anyone who couldn’t afford bad shit happening. 1% had infected billions with spiritual dis-ease. We must understand our values before we can transform our inequities.

History will reveal the 21st Century as an era of profits of false prophets consigned to con and control the 99%. Plutocrats patronize partisan politicians who deplete our natural resources, pollute our planet, ravage our psyches, choose our health care, control our welfare, gamble with our hard earned social security, and own our pension funds. Neptune in Pisces embodies billions of people seeking security, stability, and spiritual answers and finding despair, fear, and terror. The human race has become a race against bad shit happening. Look and See. Listen and Hear.

CAPRICORN HANDS

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Capricorn1/15/1929 – Aries 4/4/1968) was martyred for his fervent beliefs. “If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.” As a Baptist Minister and passionate Social Rights Activist, Dr. King led the black civil rights movement in the United States from the mid 1950’s until his assassination in 1968. Dr. King’s mission was the pursuit of truth, peace, justice, and equality for all. His dream has become his racial legacy and a legal holiday.

You don’t need a Capricorn sun, moon, rising, planets, houses, or aspects to be Capricorn. Dominant types have flat square palms, short stiff fingers, square fingertips, and a combination of loop and arch finger prints. Self-assured handshakes, firm hand consistency, and pale pink hard working skin embody practicality, responsibility, and reliability. When a middle finger leans or crooks toward a ring finger, you see seriousness and responsibility for all types.

A combination of dominant middle fingers and prevailing first and middle phalanges makes Capricorn more practical and pragmatic than AriesCancer, and Libra. Every thought and action must have a rational reason and purpose. Successful business leaders and managers embrace their responsibilities with commitment and dedication, carrying out the specifics of mundane business while maintaining a long-range vision of their goals. As structured, focused, disciplined, and dependable beings, they expect you to be on time and do as you say. Saturn has little patience for excuses. As natural skeptics, they don’t trust slick and flashy types. As workaholics, they don’t think twice about coming in early or staying late to finish tasks. They patiently wait for the right conditions, relationships, and timing.

Middle fingers should always be longest. No matter what type, a short middle finger means a life out of balance and control. Middle fingers embody our need for structure and reveal our abilities to focus, discipline, be responsible, and practical. Middle fingers show us how serious and reliable we are and how to best manage our restrictions, obstructions, obligations, and guilt.

Saturnians are well organized, efficient, patient, dependable, and faithful. Obsessive order, methodology, punctuality, and perfectionism can be seen in stiff knotty joints, bent middle fingers, long middle phalanges, square tips, and short broad nails. The most self-critical of all types, Capricorn must habitually “lighten up and smell the roses”. Traditional music and dry humor helps. Many Saturnians are cynical and sarcastic with a fatalistic sense of humor rooted in a pessimism they’d prefer to hide. Practical, prudent, and persistent, Saturn becomes quickly frustrated and aggravated when their strategies don’t go according to plan. Inflexible ideologies, too many responsibilities, and overdeveloped senses of obligation make them feel guilt, shame, and depression. They can be offensive and defensive at the same time. Pure types pride themselves on their ingenuity, but they rarely stray from provincial, traditional, and conventional.

Dominant middle-fingered folk are tall, slender, and angular in appearance. They may have dark hair, large bones, stern features, and bland complexions. As loners, they need private time, including family, friends, and partners. The prevailing physical sense is smell. Purists love string instruments and prefer classical music tinged with sadness.

Saturn rules all structure. Saturnians eventually have maladies with teeth, knees, ligaments, rheumatism, hardening of the arteries, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, or deafness in the left ear. When a middle finger leans toward a ring finger, there’s perfectionism and a need for personal space. I’ll bet Donald Rumsfeld is always cranky and irritable. Check out the inner frustration that goes with this face. Many conservative businessmen, distinguished scientists, technical specialists, researchers, writers, craftsmen, therapists, night watchmen, undertakers, morticians, and derelicts have dominant middle fingers.

“Father Time” is about quality, not quantity. The Hermit is alone, but not lonely. Turning lead to gold is a metaphor for shining the brilliance of the Sun on Saturn. Where structure, discipline, and focus are required, Saturn is present. Saturn can be prosperous, healthy, happy, wise, and compassionate. He can also be extremely frustrated, controlling, greedy, and self-destructive. Capricorn must do the work or suffer the consequences.

The most famous Capricorn of all time was Jesus Christ. This not for profit prophet was the first self-styled Jewish self-help guru. Jesus would have reformed the business of religion had he stuck around. Who needs rules, regulations, dogmas, codes, and doctrines when you have spirituality? Jesus shared God’s essence as he spoke, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Jesus was crucified and martyred for loving too much.

Capricorn Mel Gibson irreverently exploited the dark side of love in his ‘The Passion of the Christ’. Jesus’s spirit writhes in heaven as Mel continues to punish and blame us for torturing him to death. Mel can capitalize on Dr. King’s final moments. He can call it LETHAL WEAPON 666 and give us even more reasons to spread shame, guilt, fear, hate, and terror. Mel would be less harmful as a used Hummer salesman. He could sell ‘already been road-warriored’ models, like worn jeans or distressed furniture.

Capricorns strive to be number one. Muhammad Ali was King of Boxing. Elvis Presley was King of Rock ‘n Roll. Tiger Woods was Prince of Golf. David Bowie and Rod Stewart are musical stars. Daniel Day-Lewis (Taurus / Saturn) played Abraham Lincoln, a Saturn type. Clint Eastwood is a Gemini with dominant Saturn. Paul Cezanne and Henri Matisse were Saturnian Post and Neo-Impressionist French artists. Albert Schweitzer was a humanitarian. Louis Pasteur pasteurized.

Master criminals are Saturn ruled. They don’t depend on cleverness like Gemini, spontaneity like Aries, or grandiosity like Sagittarians. Saturn strategizes and waits. Scrooge is the epitome of his darkest, stingiest, greediest, and least generous self. Relationships are only important as they relate to profit.

Ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future haunt Bernard Ebbers, former CEO of WorldCom. Ebbers contributed to society by making telecommunications competitive. He compromised his principles to reach his goal of power and worldly achievement. Bernie played both sides against the middle and got caught in the squeeze.

Janet is a Capricorn with crooked middle fingers and separated head and life on her dominant hand. This combination makes her a very independent freedom loving perfectionist with over developed senses of responsibility, obligation, and guilt. She’s great at what she does, but there’s always a ‘should’ or ‘supposed to’ in the way of the adventure she’d prefer to be having.

Virgo & Hands

You don’t need a Virgo Sun, Moon, planets, aspects, or placements to be Virgo. Virgo’s square palms and short fingers are less meaty and more flexible than Taurus hands and pinker and more elastic than pure Capricorn types who have whitish flat palms and well developed first knots on lean fingers. Virgo is most adaptable of three practical types. Strong middle fingers that crook toward ring fingers at first joints strive for perfection and need personal space. No matter your type, enlarged second knots, square fingertips, and short fingernails add more order and practical Virgo qualities. People who chew their nails to the quick are self-critical and critical of others (worse if many lines crisscross beneath middle finger). Bitten nails belong to contrary people who will choose another side of an argument, just to make a point, even if they agree with you.

Virgo is best where discriminating, reliable, modest, and orderly service is required. Famous for cleaning up everyone else’s messes, Virgo may sometimes obsess on details and be overly thorough and meticulous. Contrary to popular belief, Virgo doesn’t enjoy details. Short fingered people in general (practical & intuitive) dislike details and need to see the whole picture. Details are a nuisance; something others should do, but few can do them better than Virgo who addresses them and then does what needs to be done. Because they usually ask too little for themselves, Virgo must be valued and appreciated. They know their value, but are reticent to ask for it. Ego gratification is not a motivation. Never take Virgo for granted. Virgos work hard to feel useful. They must learn to cherish every molecule of what they earn. Careers like accounting, medical, nursing, social work, maintenance, cleaning, and health food are magnets for Virgo.

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.”  Stephen King (9/21/47)

Carly Fiorina, former fortune 500 CEO is a conservative Virgo. Despite bad publicity over her tenure at HP and a failed presidential attempt, Carly practices what she preaches. Whether you agree with her or not, her intuitive hands with short fingers, along with her Virgo sun are saying, “Challenge the mind and capture the heart”. Aristaeus `Guardian of the flocks and farming’ in Greek myth is a Virgo archetype. Aristaeus taught bee-keeping. He embodies the capacity to dedicate selflessly in service to others.

Virgos who have worked and been rewarded include: Writers Agatha Christie & Leonard Cohen; Lawyers Alan Dershowitz & Marcia Clark; Financiers J.P. Morgan & Warren Buffet; Actors Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, Sophia Loren, Paul Walker, Keanu Reeves, Blake Lively, and Cameron Diaz; Singers Michael Jackson & Beyonce’ Knowles; Political figures Margaret Trudeau, Lyndon Johnson, George Wallace, Yasser Arafat, & John McCain with Taurus hands, short index finger, crooked pinky, and intuitive tips that say what you see is not what you get.

Virgo is earthy and practical. He/she represents more scientific and technical aspects of thinking. Virgo is more logical and healthier, while Gemini is more intellectual and cleverer. Imagination is more important to Gemini than practicality. Mercury, the winged foot messenger, holds a caduceus (medicine) ruled by Virgo (healthcare) while Gemini rules communications. As a Gemini, Mercury, my ruler is in retrograde motion at the moment.

I’d begun to practice palmistry professionally in my early thirties when a young man showed up and asked a mind boggling question. “When will I die?” A healthy looking Virgo, he was well built, energetic, handsome, smart, and a multi-talented craftsman. He appeared to take excellent care of himself. His well-balanced square palms were pink and firm with short straight fingers. His pink elastic skin, resilient palms, flexible wrists, and mildly flexible finger joints revealed a healthy balance between his determination and adaptability. His basic lines were clear and deeply engraved. How lucky he is, I thought, but his fate had been sealed when he had contracted AIDS.

AIDS was a death sentence at the time. I was clueless how to look for AIDS in his hands. Nothing stood out. I also lacked experience to counsel him. Instead, I said, “I’m sorry, only god has the answer to your question”… “You’re a naturally healthy type. If anyone can beat this disease, you can.” I highlighted his most positive qualities, but he wasn’t interested in hearing about them. We continued to chat about what he planned to do about his situation. He wanted to be proactive. I charged no fee for his session.

My curiosity about AIDS and my desire to make a difference motivated me to volunteer twice weekly at Bailey House, an AIDS housing organization. I showed up twice weekly for two years to counsel clients and staff. I used palmistry, astrology, and tarot as lenses to view their issues and challenges and help them make decisions about what’s next.

I printed AIDS infected hands monthly to monitor the progress or regress of the disease. I began to notice changes in skin ridge patterns on the percussion of the hands, but lack of adequate funding, limited time, and not enough statistical data made it difficult to be thorough or scientific. Most people with AIDS suppress their potentials because they obsess on the harsh realities of their fragile and impending mortality. I affirmed talents and strengths and tried to inspire AIDS sufferers to continue making positive choices and taking positive actions. Everyone looked forward to our weekly sessions.

Healthcare is a mundane correspondence for Virgo. Good health is a birthright we all deserve. Everyone has physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health challenges. Our partisan government, acquisitive pharmaceutical companies, and greedy health insurance industry have transformed our healthcare system into an extortionate superstore. Gluttonous insurers care more about profit than people. Megalomaniacal money managers and materialistic managed care providers bribe prejudiced politicians to institute and enforce the rules of their game. Selfish executives prosper while dedicated doctors are forced to ignore root causes and treat symptoms with overpriced medications. Saturn was in Virgo from 9 / 2007 – 10 / 2009. Seeds for structural change to healthcare were sown and the Affordable Care Act was harvested.

Your health is in your hands. In the days before computerized medical diagnosis, doctors used their intuition, tasted a patient’s urine, looked into their eyes, and examined their tongue, skin, and especially their hands to diagnose illness. Hands reflect a person’s physical, mental, and emotional health. I encourage seekers to examine and reflect on their own hands and the hands of people they care about. There’s much to see in a mirror.

Fingernails are windows to a person’s health. Illnesses that can be seen in nails are anemia, thyroid disease, malnutrition, carpal tunnel syndrome, psoriasis, eczema, liver disease, heart, lungs, colon, chronic respiratory disease, lymph system problems, diabetes, Raynaud’s disease, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, Hodgkin’s disease, and sickle-cell anemia.

Dozens of stress related problems and several types of cancer can be seen in skin ridge patterns (dermatoglyphics). Conditions of lines in hands can indicate conditions of the heart, brain, kidneys, liver, stomach, and male and female systems. Palmistry is prescriptive, but when I observe a potential health problem in hands, I never diagnose or prescribe. I tell clients I’m not a health expert and suggest they see a specialist.

Many health problems are natural predispositions to specific character types. Know the type and understand the corresponding potential health problems. This is a generalized list of health issues that correspond to particular fingers. Click links to learn when and how a finger is dominant and what other qualities in addition to health are represented.

Dominant index finger ~ blood disorders, liver trouble, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, and problems with hips, thighs, and throat. One habitual challenge is the temptation to overindulge in food and drink.

Dominant middle finger ~ skin problems, teeth with age, knees, ligaments, secretion of bile, skeletal, left ear deafness, paralysis, rheumatism, gout, hardening of the arteries, hemorrhoids, and varicose veins.

Dominant ring finger ~ eyesight, heart, and blood circulation.

Dominant pinkie ~ delicate nervous system, weak bronchial and respiratory systems, thyroid gland, headaches, memory loss, and speech impediments.

Dominant ball of thumb ~ throat, lymphatic system, venereal diseases, heart and circulation, and nervousness.

Dominant heel of hand ~ bodily fluids, stomach problems, tumors, female disorders, epilepsy, mucous membranes, gout and rheumatism, kidney and bladder, and mental illness.

Dominant thumb and percussion of hand ~ inflammations, acute fevers, infections, muscular disorders, blood diseases, hemorrhage, infectious and contagious diseases, throat and chest trouble, and high blood pressure.

Scorpio types ~ reproductive system, ruptures, hemorrhoids, ulcers, venereal diseases, and problems with prostate or urethra.

Aquarian types ~ ankle weakness, anemia, cramps, heart weaknesses, nervous diseases, varicose veins, and sensitive skin.

Piscean types ~ feet and toes including bunions and gout, colds, mucous discharges, tumors, drug addictions, and liver troubles.

Bernie Serotta was a Pisces with Virgo hands and matching character. Bernie passed from the physical plane in 2004. It’s easy to see his warm, open, friendly, hardworking, and practical nature from his dominant hand. His muscular square palm and short fingers are saying, “Hello, goodbye, and I’ve got nothing to hide”. Despite my being peculiar to Bernie, I always felt honored and embraced by him.

Bernie was more Piscean as a child with his sense of wonder and love and appreciation of all things beautiful. As a young adult, Bernie embraced his Virgo nature as he started a family and a business. Bernie owned and operated a hardware store in Saratoga, NY for forty years. He served his family and community with dignity, grace, and humility. Bernie was retired when we met. He’d begun to explore his Pisces nature again, a second childhood. He had to let go some of some very practical habits to make space for his curiosity and creativity and engage in a more magical journey as he aged. We chatted about music and philosophy. Bernie practiced violin, enjoyed playing chamber music, and continued to do good deeds for family and friends until he passed.

Taurus Hands

You don’t need a Taurus sun sign, planets, or planetary placements to be Taurean. Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo are practical types with square palms and short fingers. Pure Taurus hands have pink, firm, elastic skin, solid bulging percussion under pinkie finger, stiff jointed thumbs and fingers, and full rosy balls of thumb bounded by long clear deep life lines. Several long lines run parallel within the life line. Deep main lines and skin ridge patterns are boldly etched. Very few peripheral lines are found in Taurus hands. Long graceful heart lines end under the index finger. Horizontal head lines closely intertwine with life lines at their beginnings and gently slope downward toward the heel of the hand. Dominant loop and arch fingerprints, square tips, developed lower knots and strong middle and bottom phalanges confirm the type. You’d never guess the hand above belongs to a Pisces sun sign.

Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo are feminine in gender. Driven by physical senses, Taurus are the most responsible, practical, pragmatic, objective, dependable, and reliable of all types. Taurus innately knows how the material world works. They understand what they see and feel, but resist trusting their ideas, intuitions, and inspirations. They get bogged down in mundane matters that limit their abstract abilities and imagination. As creatures of habit, they can easily become addicted to routine and order. They’re great at maintaining the status quo, but procrastinate at starts and finishes. Taurus must pay attention to their daily habits and patterns or become prisoners of their habitual choices. Fixed types (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) must all learn to clearly see the handwriting on the wall.

Venus, Queen of Pentacles, covets wealth and power as she transforms her visions of comfort and beauty into reality. Her compelling needs for physical and emotional security drive her practical attitudes. Honest, dependable, and trustworthy, she’s valued for her natural warmth and good sense. She won’t bend the truth or perform a song and dance act for anyone. She’s loyal, affectionate, and charming, but can also be controlling, jealous, and possessive. She’s not the best salesperson because she takes rejection personally. Don’t ever take her for granted. She must learn to trust her gut, give up control, and let go of people, circumstances, and ideas that no longer make sense to hang on to. Venus can be extreme. Mother of Harmony, Fear, and Terror, Venus must remain vigilant not to overindulge in negative emotions and physical desires. She symbolizes the pleasure loving acquisitive nature of the bull who strives for constant satisfaction. She loves family, home, food, nature, art, and music and thrives in real estate, banking, insurance, food, and fashion.

Large ball of thumb folk are givers. Saying “No” is a huge challenge for them (especially those with flexible thumbs). Pink color is normal. Red adds passion and lust. One symptom of intimacy issues can be seen when no lines are parallel to the lifeline within the ball of the thumb. Even a partial line may indicate a significant intimacy for a certain length of time. It also reveals the ability to be intimate and vulnerable. Love and trust must be earned in order to fertilize our garden and harvest a bountiful crop. Time is our friend. People ask, “When will I die?” “How long is my lifeline?”  We all definitely die. Only God knows when. Life is about quality, not quantity.

My Taurus moon and mars symbolize my need for emotional and physical stability, along with my insatiable desire for quantity of quality. I never seem to get enough good food, nature, art, music, and loving. April 19 to May 20 is the best time to look through both telescope and microscope at what you truly love and value. We must all pay to play, but good health and happiness are free.

“The great mass of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one”                                                                                                                                 Adolf Hitler

Adolph Hitler (4/20/1889) was responsible for over thirty million deaths. Hitler transformed the world by harnessing the power of fear and terror and linking them to the power of symbolism to control and manipulate masses. The darkest depths of Taurus catalyzed a German dictator from 1933 to 1945. Taurus can be a cruel zealous fundamentalist in desperate need of spiritual intervention. Jim Jones (5/13/31), fanatic cult leader, led 1,000 people to mass suicide in 1978. Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh (4/23/68) showed no remorse for evil.  Saddam Hussein (4/28/37), a dictator, was humiliated and publicly slain by US.

Pope Francis was created for love and spirituality. Francis is a Sagittarian with a strong Taurus backup. Healthy values make the best religious sense. Notice the barely bottom phalange on his pinky finger. Francis could care less about stuff. He truly loves us and practices what he preaches.

Pope John Paul ll (5/8/20) radiated the heavenly light of Taurus when he asked the rich to share their wealth with the poor. As the first Pope to visit a synagogue, John Paul ll encouraged Catholics and Jews to love one another. He survived countless chaotic messes and reforms in the church along with an attempted assassination. In this picture, his hand looks Arian, adding abundant courage and initiative to his solid values.

William Randolph Hearst and Orson Welles (bulls) battled stubbornly over the making and release of ‘Citizen Kane’. Kane was a Midas who Welles irreverently modeled after Hearst. Despite his natural charisma, brilliant acting, and serious directing abilities, Welles was no match for Hearst’s fortune or power to influence masses. Hearst was stubborn, acquisitive, possessive, and controlling. Welles was determined and persistent in his righteous defiance of Hearst. Hearst tortured Welles with too many legal obstacles and bludgeoned him with bad publicity until Welles could not afford to practice his principles (values) or rise to his challenges (procrastination) or control his self-indulgences (peril).

Taurus exalts mountains (masters), fertilizes fields (purpose), and tends gardens (practicality).

Sigmund Freud (5/6/1856) was Father of Modern Psychoanalysis.

Karl Marx (5/5/1818) developed the theory of Socialism.

Krishnamurti (5/11/1895) shared Spiritual Good Sense with whoever would listen.

Martha Graham (5/11/1894) was Mother of Modern Dance.

Katherine Hepburn (5/12/1907) was Grande Dame of American Stage and Movies.

Queen Elizabeth (4/21/1926) and Prime Minister Tony Blair (5/6/1953) Anchor England.

As a palmist at corporate events for over thirty years, I always arrive early to set up and settle in. Meeting planners show up to introduce the top brass to me before the event starts. Everyone wants to hear what I have to say about them. I’ve read many hundreds of CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, and COOs. I examine their hands as I hold them in mine, look into their eyes, and reflect on their personal issues.

Everything and nothing are equal; identical in nature, but different by degree. ‘Less is more’. King Midas wished for a touch of gold, got it, and transformed his beloved daughter into a hunk of metal. Food turned to gold as it touched his lips. Taurus is about values. She shows us how to be flexible and let go of wants by raising our awareness of what truly matters. She encourages us to be stable and secure so we can clearly see and know what we need. There are innumerable shades of gray between black and white. A dying billionaire will gladly trade wealth for youth or good health. A glamorous movie star will gratefully scrub toilets in Grand Central Station to cure her ailing child.

“Have you seen hands that freaked you out?” On a sweltering hot August day, an icy chill gripped my soul as I touched Manuel’s hands. His huge hot sweaty red balls of thumb had no lines within the life line, looking as if an extra-large egg had been stuffed into them. I simulated the enhancement on the left. Manuel’s tremendous desire and passion had no place to go. He had zero ability to be intimate with another human being. Manuel was a convicted child serial killer. Click here to read his story.

When a child becomes thirteen in Jewish tradition, he or she becomes a man or woman after performing a religious rite of passage. Rituals take place in synagogues and require terrified adolescents to read Hebrew from the Torah, sing, and earn their adulthood. I’ve read many thousands of hands at bar and bat mitzvah parties. I’ve worked at many hundreds of modest family gatherings and massive extravaganzas. I’ve performed alongside the world’s best mentalists, magicians, caricaturists, and esoteric readers. Costumed with my black velvet purple satin lined cape, crystal ball, and lighted magnifying glass, I’m a five-minute best friend and bull-shit detector. It’s amazing how much value can be given in five minutes.

It’s not what you see, but what you say and how you say it that matters. One evening, an entourage accompanied their friend to his reading. He was like a mini-CEO with his expensive designer suit and tie. His soft pudgy square palms and plump third phalanges on short fingers let me know that he’d never seen a lick of physical labor. His friends jokingly urged me, “Tell him he’s gay”. One asked, “Do you know who he is?” I saw a kid with lots of challenges ahead. I told his entourage’ to “back off” as I spoke to him about working harder to express his true feelings and behave naturally. His eyes and body language revealed that he could care less about whatever I had to say. When you’re one of the richest kids in the world, unearned power is not a blessing. It may actually be a curse. Later that evening, young Midas returned. He acted as though we’d never met. I gave him the same advice. When I finished, he chuckled and told me, “I fooled you. You already read my hands”.

I held his hands firmly in mine and looked directly into his eyes. “I know who you are, you’re the $$$ boy. I have some valuable free advice for you. Your money doesn’t make you better than anyone else. Your power is unearned. You’ll get old; have relationship problems, work struggles, and health challenges, along with life’s unforeseen plans for you. You must decide what you truly value and how you can make a positive difference with your abundant resources in a world that needs your help.” With eyes dropped and shoulders rounded he left, temporarily recognizing his hubris. I hope he realized his truth.

At another event, a shopping center magnate was competing with his Jewish neighbors, spending a $mall fortune for a sweet thirteen party @ a New Jersey country club. I had just finished reading 48 people in four hours. As I packed my bag to go to an evening party in Manhattan, Midas appeared and demanded, “Read my hands!” Politely, I told him, “I’m sorry, I’m done and in a hurry to get to another party”. “You don’t understand, I’m the one who’s paying you”. I let him know, “The planner already paid me”. He threatened, “I’ll stop payment on his balance!” “OK, hold up your hands”.

“Go ahead, tell me how fucked up I am”. His square palms, short fingers, and long crooked middle fingers with grilled lines beneath revealed a highly self-critical nature. Compulsively chewed nails added an argumentative quality. “I won’t tell you you’re fucked up, but I will tell you what is fucked up. You work unbelievably hard for everything and don’t have a clue how to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You’re a frustrated perfectionist, self-critical, and critical and judgmental of others. You need to lighten up and smell the roses!” He stood, “That’s enough. They told me you were good and they were right. Go to your party”.

When Uranus transited Taurus from 1935 to 1942, the USA went off the gold standard. People began focusing on values and questioning materialism. President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. Labor organized and formed unions that went on strike and engaged in sit-downs across the nation. President Roosevelt defended the Four Essential Freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. Partisan politics has steadily undermined those freedoms, including social and national security.

People born between 1935 and 1942 have Uranus in Taurus. Many have experienced sudden and unexpected gains and reversals. Uranus returns to Taurus after 84 years in 2019 for seven years. New York Stock Exchange and Federal Reserve are bulls. Expect extreme financial fluctuations.

Capitalism is ruled by Taurus. Fueled by supply, demand, innovation, and competition, capitalism raises our standard of living by heating, cooling, and lighting us. Capitalism enables us to travel freely, independently, and communicate on a grand scale. We can have many opportunities, products, and services when we can afford them. Capitalism is designed for and by individuals and businesses who agree to exercise financial freedom in whatever ways they see fit within the law. As capitalists, we must take responsibility to help those who can’t compete with or survive greed.

Capitalism is great in theory, but like Religion, the bright side of capitalism uplifts while the dark side breeds prejudice, pain, guilt, shame, and suffering. Capitalism is wealthy, but not wise. It fans the flames of larceny as it segregates haves from have-nots. Power corrupts from the top down as value and integrity are compromised. In practice, we must be responsible and vigilant. Too much temptation for too many greedy and dishonest humans makes too much trouble for too many complacent people.

If Capitalism’s heart is hard, its head is even harder. How easy it is to rationalize the most horrific of actions when they’re not happening to us. We’re closer to Armageddon than Eden. Where does the light of capitalism begin and the darkness end? The trappings of Capitalism are its failings.  Why must we learn to value what we have by losing it?

Many people apply formulas for success and yet few are truly successful. Success is a state of mind, heart, and spirit. Our problems are not physical, but philosophical and spiritual. Unhealthy values point us down a path of self-destruction. Our good health and the good health of our world is a reflection of our thoughts and feelings. We must believe in ourselves, have faith, cultivate right attitudes, think critically and positively, set realistic goals, and take appropriate action. We all need good sense and wise counsel. Taurus teaches honesty, responsibility, discipline, structure, focus, courage, determination, and persistence. We must be our own best friends and bull shit detectors.
