You don’t need a Taurus sun, moon, ascendant, aspects, or house placements to behave like a Taurus. ‘Taurus archetypes’ have square fleshy palms, large stiff thumbs, and short stiff fingers representing stubbornness, determination, and tenacity. Their firm, pink, elastic skin, and dense bulging percussion of hands under pinkie fingers embody their relentless persistence. Having full rosy balls of thumbs symbolizes love of family, nature, children, comfort, art, music, luxury, and all that’s refined, graceful, and beautiful. When a ball of thumb is surrounded by a long clear deep life line, that person is blessed with a healthy body and attitude. Long clear deep fate lines reflect strong purpose, goals, and destiny.
Deeply engraved life, heart, head, and fate lines and clear skin ridges are distinct paths on the topographical maps of our hands that can be navigated by anyone who wants to learn to see and interpret the cartography. Taurus has less peripheral lines than feeling, thinking, and intuitive types. Needing security and stability, Taurus feels, thinks, and intuits in practical ways. Long graceful heart lines ending under the index fingers are romantic and sentimental. Being ‘old fashioned’ comes naturally, like crying while watching old movies is typical. Long heart lines see others as they want them to be, instead of how they really are. Time is Taurus’s friend. They must make others work to earn their trust and love or risk being taken for granted.
People with closely intertwined lines of head and life procrastinate, care too much what others think, and need to feel appreciated. Being taken for granted is the beginning of the end. Fingers with loop prints and flexible first joints add mental adaptability. Arches and stiff joints embody fixity and practicality. Square finger tips represent a need for order and stability. Developed second knots are about needing everything in its place. I’ve seen folk with very large second knots stealthily adjusting something you picked up and moved a few molecules from where it had been. Middle phalanges embody practicality. Bottom phalanges embody physicality and sensuality. The hand pictured above belongs to a Pisces with a Taurus character. Dreamy, visionary, and spiritual on the inside, he’s extremely practical on the outside.
Taurus is driven by their physical senses. Responsible, practical, pragmatic, objective, dependable, and reliable, Taurus manages and maintains our material world. Taurus trusts what they can see and feel, not ideas, intuitions, or inspirations. As creatures of habit they get addicted to routine and order. The more bogged down in practical and mundane matters, the harder it becomes to access abstract abilities and imagination. A huge challenge is procrastination at beginnings and endings. It makes no sense as it opposes a basic need to get things done. Taurus needs to be stable, responsible, caring, and appreciated.
Aphrodite’s desire for comfort and beauty manifests in Taurus. She gives form to wealth and power. Venus loves family, friendships, home, food, nature, art, and music. Her need for physical security and stability drives her practical attitudes. She’s honest, dependable, trustworthy, and valued for her natural warmth and good sense.
A healthy Venus won’t bend the truth or perform a song and dance act for anyone. She’s loyal, affectionate, and charming, but she can also be jealous, controlling, and possessive. She’s charismatic, but not the best salesperson as she takes rejection personally. Taurus thrives in real estate, banking, food, and fashion. Taurus challenges are learning to trust their gut, give up control, and let go when it makes no sense to hang on. Taurus can be the best bull or the worst Minotaur.
Pope John Paul ll had many positive Taurus qualities. He got the haves to share with the have-nots. He was the first Pope to visit a synagogue. He encouraged Catholics and Jews to love one another. An assassination attempt nearly killed him and yet he rose to address countless chaotic messes in the church.
J. Krishnamurti, a spiritual guide, shared good sense with all willing to listen.
Leonardo da Vinci, an original hipster, was a great artist and inventor
Sigmund Freud fathered modern psychoanalysis
Karl Marx developed a theory of socialism
Martha Graham mothered modern dance
Katherine Hepburn was Grand Dame of American Stage & Movies

“The great mass of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one”. The darkest depths of Taurus brought humanity a Monster from Hell from 1933 to 1945. Adolph Hitler transformed our world by inspiring and empowering anger, fear, and terror, and manipulating masses with powerful imagery of strength and unity of pandemic proportions. Adolph Hitler was responsible for over thirty million deaths.
Jim Jones, fanatic cult leader, led 1,000 followers to mass suicide in 1978
Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh had no remorse for his evil actions.
Saddam Hussein, (Iraqi President 1979~2006) was shamed, then slayed.
Alchemy isn’t turning lead into gold. Alchemy is balancing Saturn with our Sun. Virtue, honesty, integrity, dignity, nobility, persistence, determination, discipline, structure, and focus are keys to healthy humanism. Taking responsibility, cultivating healthy attitudes, nourishing cherished values, exercising critical thinking, promoting realistic goal setting, prioritizing planning, and choosing right actions will transform our inner and outer worlds. Taurus encourages us to find clarity in our values, embrace our best qualities, and master and manage our darkness. Everyone has Taurus in their psyche by degree. Taurus gives us the time and space to blend practicality with grace, responsibility with love, and comfort with joy. We can all be our own best friends and bull shit detectors.
Personal and Collective Psyche transform as outer planets change signs. Uranus (1919–1928) was the only outer planet to pass through Pisces in the 20th Century. It’s eighty-four year cycle was completed when it transited Pisces from 2003–2011. Uranus partnered with Neptune, ruler of Pisces and god of the seas, to shift religious, social, and cultural paradigms. Symbolic of sudden unexpected change, Uranus destabilized stock markets and caused interest rates to fluctuate. Uranus transited Aries (Mars and Uranus are a volatile combo) from December 2011 to Taurus in April 2019. We all watched fake news become real news. Many folk believed or needed to believe the obvious untruths. White extremists committed domestic terrorism. Over two hundred mass shootings occurred in this country. One in four victims were small children and teens. Similarities between the ideologies and philosophies of 1919 and 2003 are alarming. Plutocrats, politicians, and priests continue to con and exploit us using fear and intimidation. It’s not what you do, but what you can get away with that matters. The ends justify the means! It’s time to look back and see!
1919~ Worst baseball scandal (Black Sox) in history occurred when a grand jury brought indictments against eight players from the White Sox. Accused of throwing the 1919 World Series, they were eventually found not guilty.
2003~ Complicit use of illicit steroids was the biggest scandal in modern baseball.
of bonded medicinal whiskey
Medical Purposes Only”
1919~ Eighteenth Amendment prohibited the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors, which encouraged distilling, brewing, and bootlegging.
2003~ George W. Bush prohibited Medicare from negotiating drug prices. Black markets for drugs from India and Canada thrived. Cannabis became medicinal.
1921~ Formal investigations into the Teapot Dome oil scandals were initiated.
2003~ USA invaded Iraq under false pretenses to secure oil resources.
1924~ Worst tornado in US history obliterated 35 towns in Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois.
Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Do
communicating with us?
1919 ~ World War I ended; consumerism, immigration, discrimination, extremism and fundamentalism grew. Uranus in Pisces symbolized four million steel workers and miners who walked off the job to protest “too many work hours” and “inhumane pay”.
2003~ Increased wage inequality between workers at the top, middle, and bottom resulted in less wages and compensation for typical workers. Despite increased productivity, real wages and compensation have continued to stagnate.
Unhealthy for 99% +
Four conservative Republican Presidents (Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, and George W Bush) held office while Uranus was in Pisces. “Silent Cal” Coolidge, the 30th President (born July 4) said, “The business of America is business”. “Biological laws tell us that certain divergent people will not mix or blend (Inferior Races of Asia).” Government and big business were roiling in the hay. Illicit affairs wielded temporary and absolute power over tightly woven webs of political, social, and cultural fabric. Plutocrats seduced and betrayed us all for profit. We call our addiction and dependence on corporations ‘Citizens United’. We give mega-money permission to make our decisions for us. Winning through Intimidation works until Time and Karma collide with Hubris!
Mission accomplished?Wars are bought, sold, and traded.George W Bush began his ‘War on Terror’ as Uranus entered Pisces in 2003. Carelessly wrecking Iraqi culture and disabling their energy infrastructure, George pilfered and profited from Iraq’s resources through Dick Cheney’s Halliburton, a proud sponsor and powerful benefactor of the war. Security for airports and seaports was put in the hands of chosen special interest contractors. Public Health Care was sacrificed on the altars of Health Insurance Czars and pharmaceutical companies. Social Security, which had been based in faith, truth, and justice, was almost privatized. Abuse of power, greed, fear, apathy, loss of faith, and giving up control are obstacles and threats to its future good health and well being.
In 1929, loss of faith in government and business infected the human psyche, catalyzing a devastating stock market crash! In 2008, George W Bush taught us what not to do as President: out-of-control federal, domestic, and military spending; government bailouts for financial and auto industries; and unfunded nebulous federal mandates like educational reform that transformed substantial surpluses into huge deficits. Ironically, during the banking and housing debacle, Democrats dominated both the Senate and Congress from 2007~2009.
Love is a moral obligation and ethical responsibility to merge truth and justice. Physical and spiritual wealth is most wisely spent creating a whole, healthy, and natural world for all. Humanity needs guidance from caring leaders who love their families, value their friends, care for others, and nurture Gaia who sustains and nourishes us all.
‘ No Love’ is not ‘Tough Love’. Absolute power corrupts! When you’re lucky and you know it, you need to give back as much as you can. Choose a cause. Make a decision. Take action. Make a real difference in a real world!
Before the great Stock Market Crash, Uranus in Pisces transformed traditional paradigms of thrift and austerity to consumerism and addiction to credit. Two of three Americans had electricity, refrigerators, and washing machines. Spending on recreation tripled. Henry Ford created green and maroon as well as black cars. Mass tastes made and cultivated markets for Rice Krispies, Lender’s Bagels, Mounds Bars, Betty Crocker, Peter Pan Peanut Butter, and many other super marketable products.
Credit and consumerism created an illusion of an easy convenient life. Uranus in Pisces inspired movie audiences to out attend church audiences. Movie houses, chain stores, and radio advertising proliferated. ‘Modern Romance Magazine’ challenged moral codes. Critics believed consumerism was driving Americans into a soulless existence of materialism and conformity.
Writer Sinclair Lewis highlighted humanity’s illusions and delusions while blaming mass production and consumption for “having created a bloodless, loveless, and standardized world”. Ouch!
Sudden and unexpected Karma manifests when outer and inner worlds collide and divide! Hubris has taken down every demagogue in history. 2020 is the year for ‘Hubrisight’. A few caring billionaires can make a huge difference for humanity!
In 1925, the KKK released 40,000 hooded members to invade Washington DC. Their resurgence targeted African Americans, Immigrants, Catholics, and Jews. New laws reduced to a trickle the stream of migrants while congress hindered the flow of immigrants based on quotas of 150,000 new immigrants yearly. Are our religious leaders practicing what they’re preaching?
Shame on us in 2020! As the KKK endorses Donald Trump, we do nothing but talk, blame, and continue scraping for pennies at the bottom of the barrel. If money talks and bullshit walks, Mike Bloomberg should begin spending some of his billions now and get a head start on issues he plans to fix as President. His quest needs not to be about him.
Creationism ignored modern science. Pisces hosted an opposition between Uranus (science) and Neptune (religion). Tennessee legislators voted it unlawful for any teacher in a state supported school, “to teach any theory that denies the story of man’s creation as taught in the bible”. Man descending from apes was unacceptable. John Scopes, high school biology teacher, fought for Darwin’s ‘theory of evolution’. Science and truth lost to politics and religion in the “Scopes Monkey Trial”. Denial of Science is even worse in 2020.
No rich child left behind. Poor folk can become workers and soldiers. Rich folk get richer and more powerful. Exactly how many yachts do our saviors and persecutors need?
The German Bauhaus School of Architecture’s ‘less is more’ design philosophy influenced architecture and product design on a global scale. Religious culture manipulated school curriculum to cleanse obscenity, promote censorship, and discriminate against race and sexuality in literature and theater.
In 1984, Intelligent Design became the new Creationism. I used to be an industrial designer. In 1969, ‘Intelligent Design’ was about saving materials and money for manufacturers. Waste was not a hassle, except for clean-up and disposal, which were often hastily and carelessly dealt with. I depleted more than my share of our planet’s natural resources for my own benefit in the name of fashion. It was easy to rationalize and compartmentalize my choices and actions by ignoring consequences. That’s when I gave up polluting the planet and became the Guru of Garbage. Land, water, and air are poisoned by award winning design! Few people realize that our planet is smaller than our ability to infect her with humanity’s dis~ease of greed, ignorance, consumption, waste, hate, and fear.
‘Intelligent design’ is not ‘smart design’. Smart designers create useful products and services using sustainable resources, efficient energy production, and fewer pollutants that produce less waste. Remaining waste is recycled or reused in constructive projects that add to nature and humanity. We must shift our paradigms from lying, denying, and hiding, to seeing, understanding, and accepting truth as real. Hate must be transformed into love by letting go of fear. The handwriting is on the wall and the time is now!
‘It’s not what you do, but what you get away with that matters’. Denying science is ‘Unintelligent Design’. One thing Donald Trump has taught us is that common sense is not good sense. As we’re busy interpreting fake news and deciphering deceptive politics, all news is becoming ideologically and philosophically bankrupt.
Pundits make fun of greed, discrimination, prejudice, hate, and a hypocrisy of fools. It’s not funny. Naked Emperors who think they know what’s best for all of us, are weaving warps of ‘no love’ with wefts of ‘tough love’.
Becoming healthier, happier, more loving, and tolerant of ourselves, each other, and our environment is the only mission and mandate that makes good sense. Our chosen leaders must find courage, strength, wisdom, and grace to do what’s best for everyone and everything!
Much has happened since 1919. A Century +1 has passed. Neptune returned home to Pisces April 4, 2011 ~ April 1, 2025. Neptune blurs boundaries, vision, illusion, and delusion. Pisces embodies physical, mental, and emotional endings that catalyze new beginnings. The dusk of denial is the dawn of truth. Bad behavior has become pandemic. Healthy behavior is a remedy.
Hindsight is still 2020. Attitudes haven’t changed. Why must we lose what we value to value what we had? History repeats its desperate and disparate attempt to teach us not to learn the hardest ways. Neptune in Pisces blends infinite shades of gray from the brightest Spiritual Enlightenment to the Darkest Death. Must we die to be reborn?
William Blake said “The path of excess leads to the palace of wisdom.” Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008. Uranus suddenly and unexpectedly transformed traditional ideologies and beliefs. We must learn to focus our attention on harnessing and directing sustainable energy, cultivating values over money, refining communications, upgrading infrastructure, improving transportation, providing healthcare for all, having honest relationships, encouraging creativity, embracing healthy philosophies, practicing bi-partisan politics, having clear purpose, being spiritual, and choosing our personal and collective destinies. Embracing courage, strength, wisdom, and grace leads to the palace of good health and happiness.
Uranus entered Aries in 2011. Greed driven by Wealth and Power fed the Illusion of Self Importance. Huge footprints don’t mean huge hearts. The pathology of power fosters the denial of truth. Futility causes the disillusion of the free will of 99%. Fear and apathy poison the Kool-Aid and too many unsuspecting folk are guzzling it.
Nonsense trumps good sense. Money trumps values. Religion trumps spirituality. Climate denial trumps science. Health insurance companies trump healthcare. HMO’s, pharmaceutical companies, and medical profiteers trump have-nots. Plutocrats trump prisons privatized by politicians, and packed with mostly poor black prisoners. Senators create and enforce laws that require the constant filling of vacancies and attention to profitability. Prison hatcheries spawn fearful frantic followers, fundamentalist ideologies, and fanatical behaviors. Our human race is racing against bad shit happening.
Vampires don’t love us. They suck our blood. Wars are fought by have-nots, whose souls are squandered by HAVES in luxury and waste. Do we really need fear, hate, and terror to learn to love?
How can we protect our planetary health and well being? We send electric cars into space, but can we transform mass travel, build bridges, tunnels, and less walls? How can humanity become more mentally and emotionally stable? How can we renew our topsoil, clean water, fresh air, and energy sources? Healthy intent and right use of free will can make huge differences. As we help ourselves, we need to help others. Conceive the inconceivable.
Scorpio is a fixed feeling type. Having a Scorpio Sun, Moon, houses, aspects, planets, or planetary placements doesn’t guarantee a Scorpio personality. Having Scorpio hands with long rectangular palms and long stiff fingers and large stiff thumbs does. The consistency of those hands is denser and skin less elastic than Cancer and Pisces. Head and life lines interlace at their start, embodying a tendency to fight change and procrastinate at beginnings and endings. ‘Letting go’ is a huge challenge, even when there’s no choice. Another big challenge is caring too much what others think.
No matter your archetype, long broad nails and straight pinky fingers represent more open and frank people. Dominant first and third phalanges on rounded and conical fingertips embody a healthy mix of intuition and practicality. Loop fingerprints symbolize adaptability and social ability. Developed knots on second joints need physical order. Developed first knots need mental order. Very large knots often belong to OCD people.
Vertical lines within a lifeline represent intimate relationships. Balls of the thumb with no lines within the lifeline are untrusting and untrustworthy, though they might not know it. They mistake desire and passion for love and end up becoming jealous and possessive. Scorpio can have many wonderful qualities, but Scorpio is also a tale of the tail of the Scorpion. Now is a good time to tell a tale of Scorpio with Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus currently transiting Scorpio. Mercury will be Retrograde in Scorpio on Halloween. It’s a great time to talk about the mythology of Scorpio and explore how the dark side of Scorpio is affecting our humanity and planet. The ball of thumb on the left in the picture above is simulated. It belonged to a child serial killer. Click here to read his story.
My Gemini sun and hands embody my Gemini behavior. Scorpio ascends in my natal chart, closely conjunct the asteroid Chiron (hand). Jupiter in Scorpio in my first house is a singleton in the bottom hemisphere of my natal chart. Pluto in Leo in my tenth house is closely conjunct Saturn in Leo which straddles my Leo midheaven. My Sun Uranus and Venus Node conjunctions are in Gemini in my 8th (Scorpio) house, joined by Vulcanus, Vertex, and a few asteroids. Scorpio rules my unconscious. As a metaphysical reader and counselor, I hear a lot of secrets. People tell me things they’ve never told anyone else because they believe I already know them. They think I can see more than I can. Of course, in the final analysis, it’s not what you see, but what you say and how you say it that matters.
When Saturn in Scorpio transited my ascendant in November of
2012, it squared my natal Saturn Pluto conjunction, compelled me to strengthen
my foundation, build more stable structures, and construct my life with less
distraction and more discipline and focus. Saturn forced me to set realistic
goals and challenged me to let go of everything and everyone that wasn’t
working for me. It wasn’t easy, but I did. Seeing clearly, listening carefully,
and thinking critically, has enabled me to rise from the ashes.
Jupiter in Scorpio has been a blessing and a curse for me. My natal Jupiter is within minutes of opposing my very stubborn 7th house Mars in Taurus. It’s trine my very sensitive ninth house Mercury in Cancer. Looking for shortcuts and easy paths to success has been a challenge. Coming out of the shithouse smelling like a rose has been the easy part. William Blake said, “The path of excess leads to the palace of wisdom”. I know.
Where’s Greta? EXPELIOSIS!
Pluto, Roman god of sex, transformation, and death is ruler of Scorpio, lord of darkness, and master of the sexual orgasm. In ancient Greece, Hades was god of the underworld. Hades had the nastiest job because his brothers and sisters were having fun controlling living people. Hades was king of the leftovers and waste. In tarot, the High Priestess, Queen of Cups, and Death card are ruled by Scorpio. Voldemort, Darth Vader, the Mummy, and the Big Bad Wolf are modern versions. Religious extremism, politics, and big business are Pluto’s playgrounds. It’s not what you do, but what you can get away with that matters. Anger, fear, hatred, prejudice, and punishment excite and beckon Donaldemort’s Dementors who are determined to terrify and control the rest of us…
My question is what responsibility
do Mega-Haves have to help support have nots. Billionaires can use their free
will to decide what they want to champion, but they must support a humanitarian
cause. Who will repair infrastructure? Who will help harness natural energy?
Who will promote sustainability? Who will manage communications, push mass transit
and alternative transportation, intelligently design and manufacture new products
and then plan for their corresponding distribution, consumption, and disposal? Who will help us acquire healthcare and
education for all? What’s the cost of a healthy planet? How much to feel well? How much does thinking
critically and living creatively cost? What’s the cost of having a healthy body
and skin? What price for healthy circulatory and respiratory systems? What about the costs of having a satisfying
The seduction turns Pluto on, but the betrayal gets him off. By encouraging terrorists, rewarding rapists, and worshipping religious fanatics, we’re all invited to spend an eternity in hell. The path of too many dark secrets leads to the palace of sociopathy. From first breath to final exit, Pluto impatiently awaits you with a kiss of death.
Scorpions make manipulative bosses, mean spirited jailers, abusive parents, and jealous partners who hide their true feelings. It’s especially hard to deal with the shadowy unstable side of Pluto’s emotions. Executioners, undertakers, coroners, morticians, and garbage men, along with power hungry plutocrats, partisan politicians, and spiritually bankrupt religious fundamentalists and hypocrites have strong Scorpio in their symbolism. Your friendly neighbor, a model citizen, devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and faithful parishioner dies. His family finds pornography, secret love letters, sadistic and masochistic sexual supplies, illegal drugs, and concealed money. Alternative facts are opaque, while hindsight is transparent.
False tweets and fake facts create opacity and disguise secrets of greed, bigotry, hatred, and sexual perversion. Tyrants rationalize the most bizarre behaviors because they believe they can get away with them. And they do, if we let them. At this moment, many are getting away with philandering, sexism, insider trading, religious hypocrisy, and poisonous partisan politics. Our deepest darkest fears and terrors are propelling humanity towards mental, emotional, moral, and spiritual bankruptcy. Evil Priests feign love and compassion as they physically, mentally, and spiritually rape the innocent souls they were entrusted to protect. Fear, guilt, shame, and remorse safely guard their secrets.
“Money talks and bullshit walks”. Plutocrats control humanity’s destiny. Republican partisan politicians have become morally and spiritually bankrupt sadists, who derive pleasure from harming have-nots. Fearful poverty minded Democrats desperately scrape the bottom of the barrel as they ask us to sign their petitions, fill out their surveys, and pledge loyalty to too many urgent causes as they beg for a few shekels. I sign and give as much as I can to worthy causes, but it’s like applying a Band-Aid to a compound fracture or placing a drop of potable water in an ocean of poison. Humanity’s ideological, philosophical, and spiritual paradigms must shift as the human race has become a race against horrible bad shit happening.
Our planet and social cultures have been corrupted by a handful of greedy moguls who control our food, shelter, healthcare, energy, communications, transportation, raw materials, manufacturing, marketing, retailing, finance, religion, and politics. Plutocrats devalue democracy by placing greed over giving, by embracing religious fundamentalism over spirituality and true faith, and by choosing consumption, waste, and denial over truth, good sense, and planetary good health. 2,153 billionaires have great social responsibility. Humanity needs them (and everyone else) to embrace caring and meaningful causes.
“It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt”. Many of life’s most painful lessons are a direct result of choosing money over values and religion over spirituality. It’s easy to rationalize the blackest behavior when your head rules your heart. “I never intended to hurt anyone”. “No one did anything they didn’t want to do”. “I may not have told the whole truth, but I didn’t lie”. “I’m sorry for my part”. Why must we lose what we’ve taken for granted to learn to value it? Scorpio holds the key to unlocking our secrets!
2019 ~ Fall Equinox ~ massive paradigm shifts are causing huge transformations
in personal and collective psyches. Outer planets, symbolizing our inner and
outer worlds are transmuting us through cardinal, fixed, and mutable modalities.
As Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transited through 20th Century Libra, forces of good and evil
clashed. Unable to balance optimism with pessimism, tolerance with intolerance,
justice with injustice, and progress with regress we had little social and
Uranus transited Aries
(opposing Libra), to Taurus in 2018 and enters Gemini in 2026. Neptune in
Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn point toward poisonous partisan politics and calculating
politicians who deceive voters with empty promises, fueled by hubris, hatred, greed,
gluttony, and a morally and spiritually bankrupt leader.
While Neptune (Pisces) transited Libra from 1942 to 1957, nuclear weapons boomed. The
Atomic Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. President Truman ordered The Atomic
Energy Commission to produce an even bigger `Hydrogen Bomb’. Neptune in Pisces has
given us a deluded Emperor with his finger on the button. Why can’t we see we’re
in this together? Our obligation is to all of humanity. We must nourish future generations
and cultivate healthy behaviors, values, ethics, thinking, feelings, will
power, physical habits, relationships, creativity, philosophies, purpose,
dreams, and spirituality.
Where does fear stop and accountability begin? When do we take
charge of our own destiny? Can humanity prevent ‘bad shit from happening’
instead of always racing towards it?
Nations was born on October 24 1945.
Their Charter was ratified by China, France, Soviet Union, United
Kingdom, and the United States. International cartels firmly established themselves. The European
Common Market was recognized. Civil Rights Movements flourished. Group Psychology
became popular. World Council of
Churches was established. Mother Francis Xavier Cabrini, founder of Missionary
Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, became the first American Citizen to be canonized
by the Roman Catholic Church.
The Devil is hard at
work in our churches. An eternity in hell awaits confused and corrupt priests, who
are tempted with erotic desires that encourage them to misuse their power and spiritually
abuse the sacred souls they were entrusted to protect. No matter what your religion,
humanity is one huge dysfunctional family.
When Neptune exited
Libra in 1957, bestselling novel, Peyton Place, focused on sexual
intrigue in a small town. Allen Ginsberg, a popular poet wrote, “I have seen
the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness”. People born 1942 ~ 1957 tend
to over idealize relationships, seeing them as they want them to be instead of how
they really are. A majority of our political leaders fall within these birthdates
and are utterly blind.
Uranus (Aquarius) transited Libra from 1968 to 1975. The spirit of nationalism
shifted from optimism to pessimism. Faith in progress turned into
disillusionment in national institutions and world progress. The period was
marked by useless popular inventions like a pet rock, giant platform shoes, and
shag haircuts. Punk Rock, Primal Therapy, and Streaking became popular. The
Supreme Court Legalized Abortions in the first trimester of pregnancy (Roe vs.
Wade). Patriarchy certainly isn’t working for most of us. Isn’t it time for Matriarchy?
Uranus in Taurus and
Pluto in Capricorn have gathered ultra-conservative forces to bias a Supreme
Court that curtails Women’s Rights. Bumbling bureaucrats choose money over values,
promote religion over spirituality, embrace greed over good health, and offer us
a heaping helping of fear, hate, confusion, and delusion. Where has our honesty,
integrity, dignity, courage, strength, grace, virtue, and wisdom gone. Our personal
and planetary health is controlled by too many pussy grabbers, fearful haters,
and gluttonous shitholes. We must take responsibility for our own well-being
In 1968, Governor George
Wallace, a racial bigot from Alabama, announced he’d be running for President
on a newly formed American Independent Party ticket. He threatened to repeal
the “so called civil rights laws”. In 1971, an assassination attempt left
candidate Wallace paralyzed from the waist down. Will history repeat itself? Diplomat
Henry Kissinger approved the financing of clandestine CIA activities in Chile
aimed at preventing the election and inauguration of Salvador Allende as
Patty Hearst popularized ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ after she was kidnapped and brain-washed by the Symbionese Liberation Army. A military junta deposed Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie. The most popular show on TV was a comic satire about a racist named Archie Bunker. Racism is a topic of pundits these days, but much less funny.
In Taurus, Uranus has brought us a naked Emperor who has chosen to build walls between us and our closest neighbors as he builds ideological, philosophical, and spiritual walls between us and the rest of civilization. While preaching Christian Values, he practices the seven deadly sins: lust, greed, envy, wrath, pride, gluttony, and sloth.
Pluto (Scorpio) transited Libra from 1971 to 1983. That period marked the launch
of the environmental movement RRR ~ Reuse, Recycle, and Recreate. Growers
and pickers reached a settlement that ended nearly ten years of grape boycotts
(led by Cesar Chavez). Farm workers finally had bargaining power. They strived
together to accept, compromise, and sacrifice to achieve their goals.
In 1954, Neptune was in Libra and Pluto
was in Leo. In the case of Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court ruled
racial segregation of schools was unconstitutional. On April 20, 1971, United States Supreme
Court upheld the use of busing to achieve racial desegregation in
schools. Unfortunately, making something law, doesn’t erase hatred. ‘Haves’ must learn to understand
what ‘Have Nots’ have not.
An arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization terrorized the
1972 summer Olympics in Munich. Prime Minister Idi Amin
slaughtered over 300,000 Ugandans and alienated his country from the rest of
the world. Violence in Ireland forced Britain to seize control of Northern
Ireland and suspend the Protestant controlled parliament. In 1975 South Vietnam
crumbled, bringing an end to the Vietnam War. Because of the Karen Ann Quinlan
case, `right to die’ rulings were enacted all across the USA. The serial killer
“Son of Sam” was put away after terrorizing both males and females in NYC.
Religious extremist Jim Jones’s followers drank the cool aid and died.

I was contacted recently by
a producer for a weekly podcast called “Guys We Fucked”. The two ladies above
were looking for a ‘psychic’ to shed insight into their relationships and sex
lives in order to celebrate their 300th episode. I assured the
producer that I was not a psychic, but she had done her homework and they had all
already decided that they wanted me, regardless of what I called myself.
I called a couple of friends
to get their take on the opportunity. My more conservative friend was skeptical,
feeling that it would be a circus and that I would end up being embarrassed and
regretting my participation. My less conservative friend encouraged me to go
for it and reminded me that I really had nothing to lose. I decided to say
‘yes’ and then just have fun with it. I was glad I did. It aired yesterday.
I’ve already had emails from listeners and fans around the country, letting me
know that they really enjoyed the show and wondering how they could proceed to
hire me to interpret and help shed insight into their own intimate relationships.
“Talent is cheaper than
table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a
lot of hard work.” Stephen King (Virgo ~ 9/21/47)
You don’t need a Virgo Sun, Moon, planets, aspects, or planetary placements to be a Virgo. Strong middle finger phalanges with square tips dominate square palms with short fingers. Virgo hands are less meaty and more flexible than Taurus and more elastic than Capricorn, with pinkish flat palms, well- developed first knots, and very lean fingers. Virgo is the most adaptable of all three practical types.
Virgo is known for their methodical ‘hands on’ approach to being natural. No matter the type, square fingertips, large second knots, and short fingernails add order and practicality. Strong crooked middle fingers that lean toward ring fingers at first joints strive for perfection and need personal space. Virgo is known for being critical. Many are mainly self-critical. Fire rising or a watery moon gives them inspiration, passion, and empathy. People who chew their nails are self-critical or critical of others (many lines crisscrossing beneath the middle finger). Nails bitten to the quick are contrary and will choose the other side of an argument, just to make a point, even if they agree with you.
Virgo is happiest where
discriminating, reliable, modest, and orderly service is required. Famous for
cleaning up everyone else’s messes, Virgo can obsess on details while being
overly thorough and meticulous. Contrary to popular belief, Virgo doesn’t like
details. Short fingered people (Practical & Intuitive) dislike details and prefer to see the whole picture. Details
are a nuisance; something others should do, but few can do them better than Virgo,
who selflessly rationalizes their distaste and drive themselves to do whatever
needs to be done. They often ask too little for themselves. Ironically, they
know their value, but are reticent to ask for it. Ego gratification is not their
motivation. Virgos work hard to feel useful. Never take a Virgo for granted. They
cherish every molecule of what they truly earn, but must be valued and
appreciated. Accounting, medical, nursing, social work, maintenance, cleaning,
and health food are career magnets for Virgo.
Some Virgos have worked hard and been rewarded for their efforts. Writers like Agatha Christie & Leonard Cohen; Lawyers Alan Dershowitz & Marcia Clark; Financiers J.P. Morgan & Warren Buffet; Actors Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, Sophia Loren, Paul Walker, Keanu Reeves, and Cameron Diaz; Singers Michael Jackson & Beyonce’; Political figures Margaret Trudeau, Lyndon Johnson, George Wallace, Yasser Arafat, & John McCain (who’s hands are Taurus). McCain’s stubborn short index finger, slightly crooked pinky, and intuitive tips say ‘what you see is not what you get’. Few have truly known his truths.
Mercury, the winged messenger, holds a caduceus (medicine), ruled by Virgo (healthcare). Gemini rules communications and wit. Virgo is earthy and practical. She represents more scientific, technical, and empathetic aspects of thinking and feeling. Virgo is feminine in gender, logical and healthy. Gemini is masculine, intellectual, and cleverer. Imagination is more compatible with Gemini than practicality.
While I was practicing
palmistry in my early thirties, a virile young man showed up one day, asking “When
will I die?” He was a Virgo, healthy looking, well proportioned, energetic,
smart, and multi-talented craftsman. He appeared to have excellent health. Well-balanced
square palms were pink and firm with short straight fingers. Pink elastic skin,
resilient palms, flexible wrists, and mildly flexible finger joints revealed a
healthy balance between determination and adaptability. His basic lines were
clear and deeply engraved. How lucky he is, I thought, but fate had sealed a
different future for him because he had AIDS.
AIDS was a death
sentence at the time. I couldn’t see his illness. Nothing stood out. I also lacked
experience to counsel him. I said, “I’m sorry, only god knows the answer to
your question. You’re a naturally healthy person. If anyone can beat this
disease, you can.” Awkwardly, I grasped at his positive qualities, but he didn’t
want to hear them. We chatted about what he planned to do. He wanted to be
proactive. I helped him decide to build a regimen of healthy diet, aerobic exercise,
peaceful sleep, more meaningful relationships, and more quality time
My curiosity about AIDS and desire to make a difference inspired
me to volunteer weekly at Bailey House, AIDS housing organization. I showed up twice weekly for two
years to read hands, astrology, and tarot cards for clients and staff. I used
metaphysics as a lens to view their issues and challenges in a symbolic way to
help them choose what’s next.
I printed hands from the AIDS community monthly to monitor the
progress or regress of the disease. I began noticing changes in skin ridge
patterns on the percussion of hands. Lack of adequate funding, limited time,
and not enough statistical data made it difficult for me to be thorough or
scientific. Most people with AIDS suppress their potentials because they obsess
on the harsh realities of a very fragile impending mortality. I affirmed their talents
and strengths and inspired them to continue making positive choices and taking meaningful
actions. We looked forward to our weekly sessions.
Your health is in your hands. In the days before
computerized medical diagnosis, doctors used their intuition, tasted a
patient’s urine, looked into their eyes, and examined their tongue, skin, and
especially their hands to diagnose illness. Hands reflect a person’s physical,
mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I encourage seekers to examine and
reflect on their own hands and the hands of people they care about. Hands are a
mirror of a person.
Fingernails are windows to a person’s health. Illnesses can be seen
in fingernails. Anemia, thyroid disease, malnutrition, carpal tunnel syndrome,
psoriasis, eczema, liver disease, heart, lungs, colon, chronic respiratory
disease, lymph system problems, diabetes, Raynaud’s disease, high blood
pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, Hodgkin’s disease, and sickle-cell
anemia are some of them.
Dozens of stress related
problems and types of cancer can be seen in skin ridge patterns
(dermatoglyphics). Conditions of lines indicate conditions of heart, brain,
kidneys, liver, and stomach in male and female systems. Palmistry is
prescriptive, but should never be used to diagnose or prescribe. When I observe
a potential health problem in a person’s hands, I let them know I’m not a medical
palmist and suggest they see a specialist.
Many health problems are
natural predispositions to specific character types. Know the type and
understand the corresponding potential health problems. Here’s a generalized
list of health issues that correspond to a person’s dominant astrological signs
and hand features. Click links to learn when and how a finger is dominant and
what other qualities in addition to health are represented. The Good News is
that forewarned is forearmed! Despite a person’s genetics, free will rules over
Sagittarius ~ Dominant index finger ~ blood disorders, liver trouble, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, and problems with hips, thighs, and throat. A huge challenge and temptation for Sagittarians is refraining from overindulging in rich food and drink.
Capricorn ~ Dominant middle finger ~ skin problems, teeth with age, knees, ligaments, secretion of bile, skeletal, left ear deafness, paralysis, rheumatism, gout, hardening of the arteries, hemorrhoids, and varicose veins.
Outer planetary transits influence our personal psyche and symbolize transformations in our collective psyche as they change sign. While Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transited Virgo in the 20th Century, preconceived paradigms were revolutionized, dissolved, and transformed. It’s no surprise we’re reaping the consequences of ignoring history as our physical and psychological climate decline. Virgo is transforming us again through its current opposition from Neptune in Pisces, along with transits of Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto in earth signs. People born 1962 – 1968 with Uranus and Pluto in Virgo, analyze, compartmentalize, organize, and rationalize their lives. Their greatest challenge is to balance practicality with spirituality.
When Neptune entered Virgo in 1929, her dark and nebulous side manifested
as Wall Street crashed and catalyzed the great depression. When Neptune left
Virgo in 1943, we were submerged in confusion over the Second World War. Mass
propaganda and deception had poisoned the rationality of Germany as it poisons
us now. Millions of innocent people were exterminated in the name of racial
purity. Humanitarians and labor unions were born during this period. Both are
dying these days. New concepts in medicine such as psychosomatic illness were
presented. Neurotics who were terrified of reality ran from responsibility. “We
Want Beer” marches were held in cities across the country to protest
prohibition, which was soon to be successfully repealed.
Modern Times, Charlie Chaplin’s motion picture, was released. The
top money making movie of 1938 was Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, complete with wicked
stepmother; handsome prince; woodland setting; huntsman, seven doting dwarves;
and a happy ending. The best-selling book of 1936 was Margaret
Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind. Silk stockings
transformed into nylon stockings. DuPont was unable to satisfy the demand.
Gasoline rationing was put into effect in 1942. A new mold discovered on
cantaloupe yielded ten times the penicillin as previous sources to reduce
shortages. Neptune in Virgo people born 1929 ~ 1943 were destined to “serve or
Pluto entered the sign of Virgo in 1957, we realized how easily we’d become
slaves to scientific and technological trends. Awareness of the dangers of
chemical pollutants affecting our environment entered our mass consciousness.
Environmental special interest groups were formed. Geneva nuclear test ban
talks reconvened. Official school prayers became unconstitutional. People born
from 1957 to 1971 were avid consumers of bottled water and health foods which have
become huge businesses, consumers of fossil fuels, and planetary polluters.
When Pluto left Virgo in 1971, Daniel Ellsberg, former Deputy
Secretary of Defense, leaked the Pentagon Papers to the New York Times. The
Times also published government documents about the history of the Vietnam War
that revealed that the American public had been consistently lied to. Anti-war
demonstrators protested in Washington where two thousand Vietnam veterans
rallied. Many threw their combat medals on the steps of the capitol. Daniel Ellsberg
was indicted for espionage and conspiracy. The 26th amendment
giving eighteen year olds the right to vote became law.
Uranus transited the sign of Virgo from 1962 to 1968. A `good
health’ revolution in consciousness began with natural and organic foods.
Rachel Carson’s bestselling book Silent Spring highlighted
ecology and stimulated concern for widespread damage caused by pesticides and
technological progress. Holistic healers appeared. Cigarette companies were
forced to print health warnings on packaging and advertising.
Health is a mundane
correspondence for Virgo. Good health is a birthright that we all deserve.
Everyone has physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges. Corrupt politicians,
partisan government, acquisitive pharmaceutical companies, and greedy brokers
of healthcare insurance have negatively transformed our healthcare system by
extorting people who can’t afford health insurance and refusing to help those
unable to help themselves. Avaricious drug companies care more for profit than
people. Megalomaniacal managed care providers bribe prejudiced partisan politicians
to enforce their rules. Materialistic money managers along with egotistical plutocrats
prosper while dedicated doctors are forced to ignore root causes and treat
symptoms with overpriced medications. Saturn transited Virgo from 9/2007 –
10/2009. Seeds for structural change were sown and the Affordable Care Act was
Civil rights became
turbulent. Voter registration drives and segregation protests increased.
Several thousand black and white supporters were arrested. A black church in
Birmingham Alabama was bombed killing four girls. Two more blacks died in riots
following that bombing. President Johnson signed the most important civil
rights act in US history on July 2 1964, integrating all public accommodations
and prohibiting job discrimination. Sadly, legislating equality doesn’t
eliminate prejudice. Malcolm X was assassinated while speaking in NYC in 1965.
Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as the first black Supreme Court justice in
1967. Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis while supporting a
sanitation worker’s strike in 1968. Riots in 125 cities after his death
resulted in 46 more deaths.
Senator Robert Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles shortly after becoming the Democratic front-runner for the presidential nomination. Anti-Vietnam war rallies were being held in major cities and universities across the country.
The worst earthquake in modern history leveled Anchorage Alaska. Jonas Salk discovered the polio vaccine and inoculated the masses. The first transatlantic TV broadcast was made via AT&T’s privately owned satellite Telstar. The first televised presidential debates were broadcast. Russians crash landed the first spacecraft on the moon. Pop Art had its first exhibition. Rock & Roll became popular. The Beatles skyrocketed to musical fame and fortune. Bob Dylan became a superstar while singing about the hypocrisy of American values and culture.
The handwriting is on the wall. When will we honestly examine our past and make healthier choices for a healthier future? Must history repeat no sense and nonsense? Gluttonous liars govern western culture without reason, evidence, science, statistics, or heart. Our soulless, heartless, and clueless Emperor has no clothes. Any sane person can see him themselves. Hate and fear must be changed into love and courage!
Author’s Note: The following observations, insights, and
generalizations are derived from over forty years of study and from reading many
tens of thousands of hands.
You don’t need a
Cancer sun, moon, planets, or planetary house placements to be a Cancer. All feeling
types have long narrow palms and long fingers ~ often held closely together.
Healthy Cancer hands are firm and consistent with pink elastic skin. Finger
joints are pliable, less stiff than Scorpio, and
less supple than Pisces. Cancer
head and life lines tend to separate at their beginnings on pure types. If the head
and life lines are closely connected at their beginnings, the individual has
(mother) issues around losing control, fear of criticism, and need for
approval. These folk should never ever be taken for granted.
Cancer is sensitive.
More peripheral lines add even more sensitivity. You must be careful what you
say as they will remember the ‘bad’ things, even if you haven’t said any. Long
gently sloping head lines are synergistic with full pink heels of hands and embody
a healthy balance between intuition, creativity, and practicality. Heart lines
that gracefully curve toward the index finger personify a romantic, idealistic,
and sometimes unrealistic vision of other people. I’ve observed lots of round
or conical fingertips with long broad nails and loop fingerprints on Cancer
types. They’re very intuitive, good communicators, and prefer to be frank whenever
possible. Stable Cancers offer firm sincere handshakes.
Cancers are intuitive, empathetic, complex, and well aware of
the needs of others. They can be hard to understand because they hide their
most vulnerable selves beneath a facade of nurturing actions. Try to pry into
their private lives and they’ll retreat into their shells. Cautious and
vulnerable, Cancer needs to be direct, rather than tactful and diplomatic. In
the final analysis, the only thing that makes sense for them is to choose
satisfying over safe and not try to avoid emotional confrontation. They must
cultivate intimacy wherever and whenever they can. Their feelings may swing
from loving and devoted to secretive, reclusive, obsessive, and fearful of the
future. When Cancers are feeling controlled or confined, they can become dark
and moody. They must feel protected and secure before they can fully trust.
Once trust is earned, loyalties run deep. You’ll see intimacy in the many lines
running parallel to the lifeline within the ball of thumb. Healthy family
connections and close friendships nourish them. The more structure,
organization and detail in their lives, the more stable and secure their
Healthy Cancers are loving, compassionate, and devoted beings.
They’re most compatible with other feeling types.
They feel most safe with responsible, reliable, and dependable practical types.
They’re sorely challenged by thinking and intuitive types.
They’re nervous they’ll be left holding the psychic garbage bag (they often
are) and forced to deal with the consequences when idealism, optimism,
enthusiasm, and logic wane (and they do). Cancers are acutely consciousness of
everyone’s emotional needs. When feeling insecure, they can become internally
secretive while becoming externally over-ambitious. Cancers work hardest when
income matches output. Motivated by good food, emotional security, and fertile
soil, their main mission is to nourish their family, protect their home, and exercise
their creative imaginations.
Demeter, Greek goddess of grain and the harvest, is a
combination of Virgo and
an overprotective Cancer mother. When Pluto abducted Persephone, Demeter pleaded
to her siblings for help, but ended up exercising her power over both gods and
man by creating winter (death) in order to negotiate Persephone’s return.
“You’ve got to play to lose”
The old guy above is the young guy with me in this picture
captured forty-five years ago in a photo booth at Kennywood Amusement Park in
Pittsburgh, Pa. My best friend, Lloyd Wilson (Cancer) and I met while working
part time at a wood, metal, and plastics model making machine shop where we
fabricated preschool children’s learning devices for the University of
Pittsburgh. We made toys for ourselves on our own time. Soon to graduate from
different colleges, I was destined to become an industrial designer. Lloyd
would continue to be an artist. We were a couple of Peter Pans on our way to
Lloyd didn’t get much nurturing as a child. He developed his
quick wit and sense of humor while trying to avoid extreme physical abuse. When
his mother was happy, Lloyd was safe. When she was unhappy, she’d incite
Lloyd’s rage filled father to brutally beat him. Lloyd’s mother sadly committed
suicide, his father was committed to a mental institution, and his beautiful
sister, (who I’d met while on vacation in Florida) with two young children, a great
husband, and apparently idyllic life, suddenly and unexpectedly blew her head
off with a shotgun. Lloyd’s slender rectangular palms and long fingers embody
his Cancer Sun, Venus, and North Node, which is conjunct my Mercury. His Gemini
ascendant is exactly conjunct my vertex and is the midpoint of my eighth house planetary
stellium in Gemini. Lloyd’s head and life lines are tightly intertwined at
their beginnings. It reveals his desire to feel needed and appreciated. Lloyd
was a sensitive child who needed love and support, but didn’t get any.
Lloyd tried hard to fix his broken parents, but they were too
sick to support him. Instead, they judged, criticized, and abused him. Lloyd somehow
survived without anyone’s approval, though he thrives on appreciation. He’ll
give his friends the shirt off his back, but they had better never take him for
granted. Lloyd has literally given me the shirt off his back in my moment of
need. I was on my way to an important meeting and got a nasty stain on my
shirt. Before I could blink, Lloyd took off his shirt and traded with me.
Cancers are collectors. Some stockpile food in case of shortage
or emergency. Lloyd collects art books, literature (he’s the most well-read
person I know), religious art, art supplies, tools, and clothing. When wealthy
people die, their families donate clothing to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
Lloyd has a keen eye for the finest designer clothing. He’s always first to pick
through the merchandise. He’s a master bargain hunter. I call him my personal
dresser. We wear the same sizes. Lloyd chooses coats, suits, and jackets with
me in mind. He has gifted me with suits worth thousands of dollars that he paid
ten or fifteen dollars for. Many had never been worn.
Lloyd would say to me, “People who tell the truth don’t need
good memories”. I’d reply, “We may be bastards, but at least we’re honest”.
Over fifty years of friendship have witnessed many challenging lessons in humility
for us. We managed to delay balancing our outer and inner worlds by always
choosing to learn the hard way. We finally had to learn that there were no
shortcuts and to let go of our need to be greater than we were.
Lloyd’s extremely flexible thumbs symbolize his ability to adapt to horrible circumstances. They also embody his generosity of heart and spirit. It’s very hard for Lloyd to say “NO”. He likely doesn’t realize it, but the gold ring on the bottom middle finger of Lloyd’s unconscious hand symbolizes his need to have clear boundaries, be frugal, and not give everything away.
Lloyd Wilson is
Pittsburgh’s best kept secret because he loves his anonymity.
His artwork reveals a magical spirit, but few will truly get to know him. Lloyd
personifies Cancer’s best qualities. He’s supportive, sympathetic, receptive,
reflective, intuitive, imaginative, and extremely devoted to friends and
You don’t need a Gemini sun, moon, ascendant, planets, or house placements to be a Gemini. Thinking types have square palms with long fingers. No matter what your astrology says, pure Gemini hands have widely spread long fingers, flexible joints, and supple thumbs and fingertips. I’m a pure type. That’s my hand above. As a mutable modality, Gemini is more mentally adaptable than (cardinal) Librans and (fixed) Aquarians. Gemini and Libra are air signs that often have head lines split at their ends, resulting in having too many choices and needing to make too many decisions. Cancer and Pisces are water signs whose ambiguous feelings are embodied in split heart lines.
Author’s note: I’m generalizing based on my personal palmistry experience.
Anyone can have any split line for many reasons.
It’s impossible to accurately foretell from a natal astrology chart what a person will choose to do with their symbolism and free will. Astrology reveals a person’s potentials. Your sun, moon, a stellium of planets, dominant signs, house placements, or powerful aspects between planets or points in a horoscope may or may not reflect what you choose to integrate into your character and behavior. Hands are topographical maps that disclose our true character in past, present, and future. As we embrace our strengths and address our weaknesses, we can exercise our thinking and free will, change our behaviors, re-write our stories, and the resulting thinking and circumstances will be reflected in the changing morphology and topography of our hands over time.
Healthy Geminis generally have long straight strong pinkie fingers that symbolize logical thinking, honest communication, and
good sense. Gemini hands feature firm pink elastic skin with long straight
widely spread fingers, dominant first phalanges, and loop finger prints.
Long ring fingers with whorl prints add talent, attractiveness, irresistibility,
salesmanship, and good luck (along with more risk taking). Strong middle fingers with square tips and developed first knots add technical
and scientific attributes. Powerful index fingers dramatically increase writing, oratory, and professional
skills. Geminis make great lawyers, bankers, doctors, orators, writers,
engineers, teachers, salesmen, accountants, and shopkeepers. I work special
events with many magicians who have dominant pinkie fingers. They surprise and
astound audiences while deceiving the eye and mind of the beholder. Dominant
pinkies prefer small musical instruments that require dexterity. Music makes
sense as hearing is Gemini’s physical sense.
The pinkie is the shortest finger. If the tip is longer than the
crease between the first and second phalange of the ring finger, it’s long. If
shorter, it’s short. Hermes (Mercury) was the shortest god. A dominant pinkie fingered
person is often short in stature like Ed Harris (Sag) with slender body and
face. Pure types have animated hands, dark hair, and penetrating eyes with
crow’s feet in the corners. Gemini remains most youthful of all
types. They’re eternally childlike and love children. Many men have thin
beards like Johnny Depp (Gemini). Michael Jackson, Virgo (ruled by Mercury), a real
Peter Pan, actually lived in ‘Neverland’. Peter frequently needs a Wendy or
parental type around. Someone’s got to be practical and responsible.
Our pinkie finger shows our ability to communicate. It indicates
truthfulness. Early family dynamic can be observed in how the pinkie is set and
held. Very short or low set pinkies reveal lack of trust as a major issue. Women
with very low set pinkies have told me they have trouble having orgasms. Their
real challenge is in trusting someone enough to have real intimacy. Lengths and
proportions of pinkie fingers symbolize technical, language, sexual, and family
Gemini rules hands and governs our nervous and respiratory
systems. Health issues revolve around nervous and bronchial systems. Geminis
have potential problems with headaches, thyroid glands, memory loss, and speech
impediments. I’m very Gemini and have been coping with Tinnitus (ringing in my
ears) for an eternity of several years.
Gold and diamond rings are often found on the pinkie fingers of
acquisitive people. Pinkie rings can symbolize the sublimation of sexual
energies to accomplish something requiring libido. I once examined a group of
fifty young men and women who were born into very powerful wealthy families in
the 80’s. Considering the prosperity of that period, it seemed a paradox that
everyone had short phalanges on the bottom segment of their little fingers on their
dominant hands. Money will never be their motivation for career choices. Family
and personal values will drive these individuals to make healthier choices.
Would you buy a used car from this Gemini? I wouldn’t. Gemini’s
liabilities are deceitfulness, trickiness, fickleness, nervousness,
restlessness, and shallowness. People preaching on soapboxes, pickpockets, and
most con artists have dominant pinkies (most inwardly curving). Yellow
coloration added to the palms reveals nastiness somewhere. The trickster is
masterful at hiding his dark side. Many wonderful people with curved pinkies
learned as children to ‘act nice’ and avoid confrontation. Their challenge is to
stop trying to please everyone.
Cultivated Geminis are consummate communicators, social magnets,
intuitive geniuses, and great judges of character. Most social of all types, they’re
frequently accused of being impractical dreamers because they love ideas so
much. They can detach themselves from mundane reality and still remain
objective about everything and anything. They overvalue intellect and
undervalue emotion. They’re threatened when their opinions are ignored. They can
accept your viewpoint, even though they disagree with you. They get mad when
their ideas are challenged without good reason. They’re easily distracted and
don’t like being responsible for making decisions before they’re clear. They fight
focus, discipline, and structure, and long for freedom, love, and being
unrestricted. The hardest choice is often the only choice that makes the best
Geminis are androgynous. In Greek myth, Hermes and Aphrodite’s
incestuous fling birthed Hermaphrodite. Dominant Hermes (whether known or admitted
to) is often bi-sexual. David Bowie was a Capricorn with strong Hermes. Mick
Jagger is a Hermes type with a Leo sun. Kate Blanchett is a Mercurial Taurus. Bob
Dylan is a Gemini. Boy George is a Gemini. Grace Jones (71) is a Taurus with
Mercury conjunct Uranus in Gemini.
You don’t need a Pisces sun, moon, planets, planetary aspects,
or house placements in your natal astrology to be Piscean. Pisces is a
feeling type. Feeling types have long slender rectangular palms and long
fingers. Pure Pisceans have dominant top phalanges on long slender fingers,
smooth joints, conical tips, and loop prints, especially on index fingers. They
have medium set mildly flexible shapely thumbs, sensitive looking fingers, a
combo of round and conical fingertips, long narrow nails, and head and life
lines loosely interwoven at their beginnings. Pinkies with tiny bottom and middle
phalanges and no knots symbolize having little need for physical order and / or
material wealth. Pisceans with inwardly curving pinkie fingers avoid emotional
confrontation (even more than other curved pinkie types).
In my experience, Pisces tend to have more flexible hands and
fingers, more peripheral shallow lines, and less deeply etched basic heart,
head, life, and fate lines than Scorpio and Cancer types. Pisces is the epitome of spiritual truth. Astrologically,
Neptune (Poseidon, King Triton), ruler of the seas, personifies emotion,
feelings, instinct, and personal and collective unconscious. Water can be the
most calming or destructive force in nature. Neptune rules mind and emotion altering
substances like prescription and recreational drugs, nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine.
Anything that alters consciousness, fuels visions, inspires illusions, and
promotes delusions is Neptunian. Neptune’s esoteric foundation is spirituality.
Its mundane correspondence is religion. Religion without spirituality is blind.
George Washington (2/22) was Pisces. CEOs of Citigroup, IBM,
Merck, DuPont, and Bank One were Pisces. One mysterious Pisces is Michael
Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Computer, world’s largest privately controlled
High-Tech company. Many years ago, before Dell was a major player, Michael
prophesied, “We are at the dawn of the next industrial revolution. Our world is
becoming more intelligent and more connected by the minute, and ultimately will
become intertwined with a vast Internet of Things, paving the way for our
customers to do incredible things. This is why we created Dell Technologies. We
have the products, services, talent and global scale to be a catalyst for
change and guide customers, large and small, on their digital
journey.” Like Ariel, daughter of King Triton, ruler of the Seas and our
unconscious, Michael visualizes what he wants by delving into our collective
unconscious. He intuitively knows what we need and hones in on that. Michael
must keep a watchful eye out for Ursula the Octopus (a conglomerate) who lusts
for control of his empire.
Pisces is well suited to teaching, human resources, and helping
professions. Many are at home in visual arts and music. Hand qualities vary
depending on natural talents and abilities, decisions, and actions. Piscean
strengths include compassion, humility, and faith. Not known for mental or
emotional decisiveness, Pisces tend to be private, and spiritual. You must earn
their trust and intimacy. Impressionable and easily influenced, many attempt to
escape reality when their circumstances get too hard. Some become substance
abusers like Johnny Cash, Jerry Lewis, and Liza Minelli.
As the most sensitive, least acquisitive, and most introverted of all types, Pisces is frequently misunderstood because the feminine gender communicates through a lens of feeling. The most practical Pisces have strong earth (Practical) with a good backup of air (Thinking) and fire (Intuitive). When head and heart are balanced, deep clear basic lines, large stiff thumbs, square fingertips, developed knots, broad nails, arch, and whorl fingerprints combine to empower Pisces physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Pisces is my most and least favorite sign. My father, brother,
and daughter (zero degrees) are my three favorite Pisces. Today is dad and
George Washington’s Birthday.
Dad was born 2/22/22.
His Sun, Venus, Uranus, and ascendant were in Pisces. My brother, Gary
(Pisces), sister, Jennifer (Taurus), and I (Gemini) were blessed with dad.
Conceived on my parents wedding night, I was born nine months and one day
later. If the definition of a genius is an average kid with a Jewish mother,
ours was father. My biggest fan, dad frequently embarrassed me. When I was
seven, I played a Chopin Prelude on the radio. Dad distributed radios to every
class in my grade school. He made sure everyone listened. Despite my
mortification when I found out, I quickly became a celebrity in our little
community. Though his pride in me was awkward sometimes, it was more fun than I
I never got to read dad’s hands, nor did I ever find a decent
photo of them. I remember loving his warm, strong, and capable hands as a
child. Dad had a firm hand shake, a grip of steel, and an energetic touch that
was gentle and loving. Perhaps his Capricorn moon grounded and made him more
practical on the outside. Dad died suddenly and unexpected 43 years ago of a
massive heart attack at age 54. That catalyzed my interest in metaphysics and
began my personal transformation. I miss and think of dad often, especially
when I’m happiest.
Dad was an incredible
storyteller. Scarcely a night passed in early childhood that my brother,
sister, and I didn’t go off on an exciting imaginary adventure at bedtime.
“BoBo”, the gorilla and “Squeaky”, the mouse were lifelong friends and magical
creatures who dad physically embodied to engage us.
As most of us well know, most family home movies are incredibly
boring ~ everyone waves at the camera and smiles all the time. Our family
dreaded invitations to watch other people’s home movies. We used to act and
create roles for ourselves in ours. Dad created commercials and strategically
placed them at transitions between scenes to make the experience more fun for
the viewer. I edited my favorite commercials from our archives and made this
short video. Click here to see my childhood hero in action. The quality isn’t
great (8mm), but the content is terrific.
